Repost from r/dtg since they claim my wording here encourages witch hunting.
So a couple weeks ago I got legitimately DDoS'd out of a match on floating gardens. They kicked me and one other teammate out leaving it a 1v3.
Of course the last man in game reported them, and I sent a permalink through their Bungie.net system since I couldn't do it in game.
Today I go to check them out and what a surprise, they are STILL at it based off their previous matches. The worst part is, THEY ARE LITERALLY RANKED IN THE TOP 10 FOR ELO. They have been kicking SO many teams out for THREE WEEKS STRAIGHT that they are actually ranked in the top 10. This just makes me wonder how effective their report system is, their automatic detection is or a combination of both. A case like this should have swift action with the banhammer yet this guy has kicked out HUNDREDS of players. The sad part is this is probably the type of guy that will simply make another account. I know Microsoft can block a console from access to Xbox live.
Quote from TWAB: We have several team members whose full-time jobs are to ensure the security of your Destiny experience. They tell us that in-game reports are the best way to send us data on malicious activity. All in-game reports of cheating are monitored, and our security team closely examines all of the top reported offenders.
Well let's see here. I just looked at this guys past 35 games, and he won them with over 100 players marked as "Deserters" Is this not a top reported offender? Is this not fitting the criteria for your automated systems? Those were just from the past 10 days. This guy's been at it for over a month.
I understand the elo system is not endorsed or used by Bungie, but you have team members whose full-time job is to handle these ingame reports, you would think they would have noticed this guy having polar opposite stats.
Perhaps it is time to look into more of the data that is being logged. The automated system isn't efficient. If you hit a threshold of wins with "deserters" it should be an automatic redflag for your full-time team to review that player.
I'm sorry if this is breaking a rule for witch hunting, but maybe a witch hunt is needed at this point. Just needed to get this rant out there.

Edited by TrooperHR: 10/29/2016 5:48:19 PMBungie ignores it all. Then one media portal reports on it (thank RNGesus) suddenly weekly update is dealing with cheaters. Bungie management scrambles jets and choppers for negative publicity.

If they really don't want to be in anybody all they have to do it's counted as an idea when your loss if you get booted. The only issue is people would just leave when they lose. So a console ban is the only way to do it

Where is bungie?????????????????????????
-
This thread is trending for a few days now with well over 700 likes and a comment from a Bungie employee or representative is nowhere to be found. It's almost like... they don't care.
-
Ban me from The forums for saying this but I am seriously past caring.. -blam!- trials! Your matchmaking system is beyond pathetic, the moderation doesn't exist. On the whole bungie don't listen to their players they are ignorant they say about balance.. They ruined a system that worked that was fun to play, now you just get matxhed against evident cheaters who instead of being punished get rewarded for it? Its backwards! I honestly think bungie will loose a lot of players quickly if things don't improve! And this weeks trials of Osiris lol its not even funny!
-
Something funny that just came to mind but by not allowing their names to be posted at all, bungie is actually protecting the cheaters who are breaking the law. :/
-
It's not broken, they don't really have a system cause they don't really give a $hit.
-
Bump. I've been able to tolerate (but barely) the rest of Bingie's crap for the past two years, however this is likely going to be what pushes me over the edge. The number of times I come across blatant cheating including fireteam members getting kicked at the start of a match is unforgivable. If they refuse to do something about the cheaters then screw em, I'm out.
-
I doubt bungie is doing anything. I went up against these guys with the new scarab and a bunch of ornaments. Thought they'd be really good players but just got ddos instead. I ended up in a 1v3 and lost 2-5 with a 2.0 kd. What I'm trying to say is that if bungie did do something about hackers then hackers wouldn't be running around with ornaments etc because you would have to have gone flawless many times.
-
Obviously bungie are going to lie and try to placate legit players, cheats will never be banned in this game, we as a community know this already
-
Totally agree with you. They are not doing anything. I would like to see numbers!! Monthly I want to see how many people have had the ban hammer. Saying and doing are two different things!! They should block consoles not IPs on PS4. Blocking IPs or users is a joke. Just create another or refresh.
-
I agree with you. Trials has been becoming a festering cesspool of cheaters. With no real consequences, there is no reason for people to stop. The console ban is the only real way to stop it, or at least minimize the likelyhood of cheating. Perhaps Activision is playing a role in keeping that from happening. Microsoft was really big on creating a safe gaming experience.

Edited by CWard17: 10/28/2016 2:57:21 PMDid you actually believe one single word those idiots typed? The reporting system in game is useless and there only to make you feel as if you're doing something. CLEARLY they have no "automated" systems in place to detect anything and anyone claiming they do is spewing nothing but company line bullshit This goes back to the so-called "damage referee" who I've yet to see on the job in any of my matches. Red bar warriors STILL rule at the top. Meanwhile, the damage referee must be off trying to hump the automated cheat detection system so neither of them can do their respective jobs.
-
These cheaters will just create a new account, charge people money for lighthouse runs, DDos there way to $20 an hour, get banned, rinse and repeat. Once money gets involved, people will do just about anything.
-
-
This is why I stopped caring about trials. Pointless either the matchmaking is the issue or it is cheaters. The loot is not worth the effort, or the disappointment of being cheated when you get a lose from a DDoS attack.
-
Hell yeah
-
I'm at the point where I say -blam!- you bungie. If you are going to allow people to cheat and not do -blam!- all about it, I'll just cheat too. Let me see if I can link a video on how to ddos someone. You refuse to make the playing field even for the ones FOLLOWING the rules so I'll just break them to get a competitive edge on the cheaters.
-
Should have saw bungie back in halo 3. You'd get banned just for attempting to cheat. Same name, different company.
-
A simple fix for trials would be if you win three consecutive matches against an incomplete fire team, your card is reset. A victory against an incomplete fire team will only count as one half win. If you intentionally abandon a match of trials more than three times in a given day, your card is also reset. Repeatedly abandoning matches would result in a temp ban as it does now.
-
Bump, ridiculous no one is doing anything about this.
-
What bothers me is the Bungie touts they know who and what is going on but are not doing anything about it. The information that the community is sharing shows how blatant the cheating is. It's not like its hard to spot who's using other methods to win. I understand Bungie is doing what they can, but honestly its hard not to question are they doing enough?
-
Plot twist, the trials cheaters are Bungie employees
-
Bungie gives pass to those who buy silver. G they get banned then no more silver purchases.
-
Remember when Bungie had a Zero-Tolerance policy for cheaters in Halo 3/Reach? If you got caught cheating with any outside-game interference, you were banned... Forever. Now they beat around the bush for over two years while DDoS'ers and lag-switchers shit on the "Cheaters never prosper" montra and climb their way to tops of leaderboards with no penalty.
