Should fps stop keeping records of our k/d and other stats?
At least give us an option to turn it off. But would it make the games more fun?

Nope, simply put if you don't want to know then don't look. Stats are useful for getting an idea of how well you are doing, even if others care about them you don't have to, also you can set yourself a target with you stats (in a way setting up a mini game)
