Trials in it's current form supports paid carries. If he can't see that...

  • Who cares if it 'supports paid carries?' If you're losing to people that only have one or two competent players, then that team overall is better than yours and you don't deserve to go to the lighthouse. That's by design. It works just as intended.

  • so if you and 4 buddies went out to shoot some 3 on 3 basketball, and the 6th you picked up was Kyrie Irving......... do you really think the team that doesnt have the pro baller on it, is gonna win ?

  • I don't see how that matters whatsoever. Nowhere did i say nor even imply they wouldn't win. If you have someone way better on your team your team is better. And the better team wins. If you don't like that the better team wins, then play something else, no? It's like saying if you think you're better than a field goal kicker on a team but that team still won because the other players compensated, that team doesn't deserve to win. That's ridiculous.

  •
Who cares if it 'supports paid carries?'
I care that it supports paid carries. That's what I wrote. :S If it doesn't matter that some sort of paid services emerge, we might as well allow weapon and armor trading between guardians. Bungie didn't want that. If I'm not mistaken because people will pay good money for certain weapons and some sort of black market would emerge.

It's rhetorical, friend. It implies there's no real reason for anybody to care. Anyways, you just fell into the slippery slope fallacy. 'Why let homosexuals marry if it will lead to people marrying dogs?' That kind of pretty backwards thinking. Trials is a team game. It's like you're arguing if you're bad you shouldn't be able to play with friends who are better than you either. Or to get rid of team games entirely. The fact that there is payment sometimes is completely seperate and certainly doesn't affect anything in game itself like buying weapons would. Because those teams, whether a person is being carried or not, are still better than yours. If you want to stop carrying... beat them.

Okay, thanks for setting me up. :) English is not my native language, so… I didn’t know how else to put it. OP asked people how we felt about some Bungie dude saying Trials is perfect in its current form. I say I don’t agree because it supports paid carries. You answer with “who cares it supports paid carries?” What did you want me to answer to that? “Who cares that you don’t care that I care about paid carries?” We could’ve gone on forever. Either way, I don’t agree with you slippery slope fallacy. In my opinion paid carries are way, way worse than trading weapons or armor between guardians. So in your comparison between marrying dogs or marrying homosexuals: I’m pretty much surprised that Bungie has no problem with people marrying dogs, but are so much against homosexuals marrying each other. I no way do I think trading is a bad thing. I’m still against the current way Trials is set up. Yes, it supports paid carries. ‘A Damn Hunter’ gave the example of people hiring Kyrie Irving for a 3v3 basketball tournament. I agree with him. If Trials would be a ‘go to the lighthouse once per character per week’ and after that you go to a Trials elite playlist, that would give those people a challenge, and give other people a chance to not run into a paid Kyrie Irving, Lebron James, etc. every run.

  •
English is not my native language, so… I didn’t know how else to put it.
Don't worry about it mate- as long as we're both being civil it's cool!
I say I don’t agree because it supports paid carries. You answer with “who cares it supports paid carries?” What did you want me to answer to that? “Who cares that you don’t care that I care about paid carries?” We could’ve gone on forever.
So a rhetorical question is a type of question where the questioner doesn't expect an answer. It's a context thing. "Who cares," is a very common one in English, and implies the questioner does not care about that point and that there is no real reason for anybody else to, either.
In my opinion paid carries are way, way worse than trading weapons or armor between guardians.
I can't see why, though. Buying weapons and armor puts people at a distinct advantage over people that do not pay. With 'buying' a carry, you still have to win because those players getting 'paid' are still not any better than anybody else. And that aside, people 'buying' carries is still irrelevant to how Trials is set up. You can buy carries in Clash, Control, Skirmish, you name it. Any team game. Yet they still exist.
So in your comparison between marrying dogs or marrying homosexuals: I’m pretty much surprised that Bungie has no problem with people marrying dogs, but are so much against homosexuals marrying each other. I no way do I think trading is a bad thing.
That wasn't the implication. In this situation, Bungie has no problem with homosexuals but dogs are another thing entirely.

  •
The fact that there is payment sometimes is completely separate and certainly doesn't affect anything in game itself
pretty sure the PvP lead saying " its meant for the best of the best " doesn't include paid carries. and if you're crazy enough to believe that tripe spilling out of your keyboard, you are either getting monetary reimbursement for carrying others, or you're the one shelling out the cash .

  • Well, pretty sure in a team game the 'best' refers to a team, so his statement of the best teams winning still holds true. I haven't played Trials since year one. I'm not good enough to go flawless and my friends aren't good enough to carry me. Which is fine, because not everyone needs to go flawless.

First: That’s not even a reply that makes any sense in this context. Second: You can’t even use the ‘8’ right. “Geight gud”? What the ****, dude. XD
