Crying about "I play the game and it's not fair that I can't make it to the lighthouse" is like crying about anything else performance based - entitled. Why are there so many who play Destiny that aren't able to go flawless so entitled? How many participation medals have been bestowed upon you in your life simply for showing up and being on the roster? As much as I wish that this was just a bunch of spoiled 14 year olds who get all up in arms, Sadly it's people who got degrees in underwater basket weaving at ITT tech and bitch about the competition in the job market. How about this example - I work out regularly and grew up my whole life playing sports and being active, but I won't make it into the NFL even though I absolutely love football. I lack the speed, strength, talent, experience, and time required to be good enough. You won't see me blowing up Roger Goddell's Twitter about it. "But the lighthouse is content I paid money for" Wrong. You paid money to have a chance at it. Same way you do at say a power lifting contest or a marathon. Guess what? There's only 3 spots on the podium (sometimes more, let's not get too technical here). There are "participation medals" for the most part, which would be the equivalent of those non flawless emblems available that drop at random in Trials. Sincerely, Everyone who's worked really hard to earn something TL;DR - Not every achievement has your name on it. Welcome to life.

  • well add any form of "in game finder" for trials an we are all golden to go.. the top tier players find pubs to not always have to whine and cry about "sweaty" matches, the normal average casual player can start to even try Trials since the LFG is not a place where those people go, more participation increases good connection based games and at the end the best teams find themselves , fighting for the final reward, everyone is happy.. sicne even the casuals can get loot and maybe with some luck even make it to the lighthouse.. at this moment its: VERY few people play.. you cant even try without having found two other players, which IS a big problem for most of the players (see IB..) Connections are horrible, the pressure is always on since only MLG pro Carry teams play and the outcome is a half assed, same business as usuall , "work"-like experience for all participants.. not what this game was all about.. its pay to get carried vs, pay to get carried most of the time. .. it would be a win-win situation if bungie would finally have some kind of teamfinder in game. lots of win.. (even if people will lose , but they have a better chance of getting the loot they want and they will at least HAVE a chance , which you have not if you are solo player.. ) and anyone that disagrees just simply has not read this thread and thought about it since there is zero reason not to have optional Teamfinder in this activity..

  • Yes, in-game LFG should absolutely be a thing. If its not in Destiny 2, consider my mind blown. 👍

  • Here's another life-lesson. 1. The rich only keep their wealth at the sufferance of the poor. 2. As soon as the poor begin to feel that the inequalities are not arrived at in a fair or just manner.....the pitchforks and hangman's ropes usually come out not long afterwards. Trials is a violation of both of these basic tenets of human nature and communities. Which is why this even is in such trouble, and is so divisive.

  • Except that there are plenty of other sources that grant loot just as good as, or better than, Trials loot.

  • Not the point. The point is that the activity will not survive if 99% of the community realize that there is nothing in for them but frustration and humiliation.....and feel that its a toxic cesspool. ...and the fact that Bungie felt it had to add completing 5 cards to the record book, doesn't bode well for the current health of the event.

  • In all honesty, I view ToO as "Scrims 4 loot". That aint for me. I like the idea and ethos behind it, but it was never gonna be mass appeal. Not sure if Bungie wanted it to be mass appeal - if they did, they went about it wrong.

  • The problem with Trials is that its neither fish-nor-fowl. Its not set up to be a balanced competition that will have mass appeal.... ...but then its also not set up to identify who the best players are either. In fact its a mixture of the WORST aspects of both kinds of events....not their best.

  • I think a lot of the blame for ToO's toxicity can be laid at the doorstep of the community. Bungies apparent slowness to deal with booters is also an issue from where I sit. They need to get on top of that somehow. I like the idea of there being a goal only a few will attain. Its just a shame so much of the community responds by cheating and charging, as opposed to simply co-operating. Such is the way of this generation 😒

  • Disagree. The blame lays at the foot of Bungie....but not for slow response time. But for failing to understand that what you are now seeing ALWAYS happens to communities when you drop winner-take-all competitions (or other exclusionary means by which to distribute desired resources) into their midst. They divide communities...and create "haves" and "have-nots". With the have-nots feeling cheated...and often willing to resort to cheating and other equally destructive means by which to try to redress their greivances.... ..and the have start to feel entitled and will often lord what they have over others as evidence of their "superiority"....which just throws gasoline on the fire of the resentment of the have-nots. At age 48, I'm too old to care about not having Trials loot....or never seeing the Lighthouse. But most of the people who play this game are kids...and this stuff matters to them. ...and I predicted that Trials would become this way when I saw the effect it was having on the community in its first few weeks....and how quickly a "Cult of Flawless" established itself...and how quickly it became a skin cancer on the face of the game. I bailed....and never looked back. But I said even then, that eventually----as long as Trials allowed the strong to prey upon the weak, and then lord it over on them-----that the community would eventually withdraw its support. ..and the "strong" would be left as Kings over a realm that no one wants to be. Eventually even them. You can already start to see this happening. Mtashed just put out a video, that absolutely savages what Trials has become (just from a gameplay stand point), and is threatening to stop participating. ..and if one of your best, most high-profile players is threatening to withdraw his support.....you have an event that is in MAJOR trouble. Trials is dying. Its just dying a slow, agonizing, cancer-riddled death.

  • Good, trials has been a disaster since year 2, I loved playing trials but once they changed the matchmaking it went downhill fast. I really hope they get rid of it altogether and while their at it put normal crucible matchmaking back to year 1 standard.

  • So what you're saying is Bungie's faith in the gaming community was misplaced?

  • In a sense, yes. Expecting large groups of people to act at variance with human nature was naive and misguided. Individuals are unpredictable. Large groups of people tend to be very predictable.
