I said something like this down below, but it's worth mentioning here, too. If most of us aren't even intended to have success in Trials, why are we all paying for it?

  • That's deep. Maybe you should put that on a poster with some clouds or something. You could make a fortune.

  • Just saying. If it was really that important to you, you would find a way to make it happen.

Yes, but I wouldn't buy monopoly if I sucked at it and knew that no matter how much I learned and practiced, there would always be people playing against me who had learned and practiced just as much as me (if not more than me), and who had a natural skill to boot. I especially wouldn't buy it if I knew that both those people (the ones with natural skill) and the makers of the game specifically WANTED me to never be play, learn, and win against people at my own skill level.

  • I like the posts from players who say, "You don't have to be amazing at crucible to go to the lighthouse; three average players can make it if they practice and learn team skills". Obviously most of the players who comment, "Right on, Derek- tell it like it is" are elite players who've made numerous lighthouse runs.

You're not paying for it you're paying for the licence to play it, if you don't have the skill to succeed then tough titties.

exactly - have the "elite" and streamers pay for it - and stop calling this content when the rest of us are so effing unworthy ?! I've been to the lighthouse a few times, more due to teamwork, than my own skill. But we ALL payed for this content that most of us aren't supposed to get ? that's BS bungie.

  • Did you get dropped on your -blam!-ing head? Even if you don't go flawless, you get to enjoy the content which is ToO and get rewards along the way through bounties and pre-set wins. You're throwing a temper tantrum over literally nothing.

  • You're paying for the same opportunity as everyone else. Your success in trials is dependent on YOU. You can be successful in trials if you practice and try hard enough.

  • Essentially, that is a lie perpetuated by the Trials 1%. Do you realize that, by definition, more than half the player base will always be "average" or worse? And a dev has just said that Trials is specifically designed to keep those people (who make the the majority of the player base) from having success? That is no opportunity.

  • I'm quite familiar with the bell curve and how it applies to averages and it's outliers as well. It is not a lie. You're settling for mediocrity. With your argument nobody would ever accomplish anything extraordinary in this world because the vast majority of people can't so why should you bother? You are afforded the same opportunity as anyone else, period. Just because you aren't as skilled as someone else doesn't mean you don't have the same potential to make it there as others. The lighthouse is a place that you can obtain, it is a reward you can have it's just not guaranteed for just participating. We all play it with the odds against us, every single one of us.

You don't sound like you understand the bell curve at all. It doesn't mean that no one ever accomplishes extraordinary things, it means that, generally, people with extraordinary skills accomplish extraordinary things, and people with average skills accomplish average things. There's a reason that regular Crucible has a hefty dose of SBMM, and why sports leagues of different skill levels don't play against each other: not everyone can become great. But if you're so confident in your "everyone can succeed" philosophy, put your money where your mouth is. If flawless is so do-able for everyone, train me. (I'm usually a nice person who can take directions as long as they aren't surrounded by curses and slurs.) Failing that, find me someone, ANYONE, who actually teaches a Crucible school. Not just a generic series of YouTube vids; lots of us average Crucible players (myself included) have already tried those. I think there's a reason that paid carries are a thing, but paid Trials lessons are not: some skills can't be taught or learned. As always, I know everyone can improve with practice, but lots of us will never improve to the level of being able to see the Lighthouse even with tons of practice.
