Trials isn't perfect by any means, but it's hands down my favorite part of destiny, and for the most part, is the only reason I play. I'm no great player either, but honestly, it doesn't take world beaters, just a team that communicates well, has solid shots, and most importantly limits the mistakes and foolish plays. Beaten sooo many teams that I have no business beating in terms of skill, just by limiting mistakes, and not giving them easy kills. Not camping and waiting like a bunch of lemmings, but simply not giving the opposing teams easy clean targets. Map awareness and player placement can make up for alot of shortcomings. Takes a lot of practice and patience tho, especially if you come into destiny with a low skill level, or lack of past pvp experience. It can be done tho, I've got a buddy whose only pvp experience before destiny was some very light CoD. Average player AT BEST, and over time, has earned himself probably close to 20 lighthouse trips mainly through hard work. Seems like the majority of folks who find Dereks tweet offensive are those who aren't willing to put forth the effort to improve their game.

I agree with Derek. The particular issue brought up does not need fixing in my opinion. I'm probably average or so at pvp, for me to go to the lighthouse it takes 2 above average team mates AND I need to be at my best, AND we need to have some luck on our side when it comes to avoiding certain things. (Like facing the same team 3 matches in a row or facing the exceptional team's that specialize helping people to the light house or "carrying" if you want to call it that for examples. And of course the lag issues that most definitely need fixing)

Trials is indeed the ultimate end-game PVP activity. Getting to the Lighthouse is hard, damn near impossible for the average player. Getting carried to the Lighthouse is a "business" all it's own. A simple fix is that once a player goes flawless all future games are played against others who have done the same. This gives the sweaties more sweaties to compete against. This gives the average player a better opportunity to perhaps join the ranks of the sweaties.

3 RepliesSo many butthurt people in here. Not everyone is able to complete raids just like not everyone is able to go flawless. You are not owed anything in this game or this world so stop whining. If you want to go flawless, then you practice and find people you can count on to play with simple as that. No particular weapon or subclass is holding you back. My team went flawless with no losses Friday running shotguns, we had some close games but not using snipers didn't hinder us at all (directing that comment at the twitter comment). If you feel that his comment "alienated" part of the player base then you are part of the problem. I work a full time job, have a 3 year old son, go out on the weekends and have time to do other things in my life as well as go flawless when I want to. If you want it bad enough you'll find a way, if you don't then you'll find an excuse.

I feel like with trials people who have gone flawless should go against people who have gone flawless. Because what happens for me at least is that me and my friends go into trials and we go against people with 2 kd's and have gone flawless multiple times while my team has never been to the lighthouse and has about a 1 kd.

I do agree. Bungie wanted a best of the best pvp mode. I dont see it as arrogant, its true. Im sure they get tired of the waah waah posts about it. And btw, i suck at pvp so its not an elitist stance

3 RepliesWhat is so great about going to the Lighthouse, or going flawless? What do you get that you can't get from tier packages from doing the bounties? A weapon with "(Adept)" in the name that has the same stats as the non-adept version? Maybe a shader, or emblem that do nothing for your game? I just don't get why people parade around that they went flawless like they get something of value for it (except, maybe the people that charge for Trials runs). The hardcore PvPers think they're the best, when Elimination is not a true test of skill, and suck in most 6v6 matches. If you want a true test of 3v3 skill, the mode should be Skirmish.

5 RepliesAll they need to do to fix the current system, which allows people to buy their way to the lighthouse with a "carry," is to exclude those players who have made it to the lighthouse that week from the general pool of competitors. So once you made it to the lighthouse on a character, that character could then only compete against others who had also made it to the lighthouse that week. This has been suggested before many times, and would clean things up quite a bit, in my opinion.

I'm not sure why casuals are surprised when they get annihilated by a very good team. You entered a very competitive game mode and you expect to come out victorious? I've never been to the lighthouse and probably won't ever get there. By that's because I can't hold my own against these good players. I have no one to blame. I honestly feel in trials, you shouldn't able to revive at all.

I agree that the lighthouse isn't for everyone, but at the moment it seems to be a bit too exclusive. For every team that makes it, there needs to be at least 7 teams that they beat on the way. What percentage of fireteams make it through? And that's not even out of all players, that's out of the ones that form a fireteam to compete, again who will be mostly above average. The upshot is that it becomes an unobtainable challenge for some, with many people more likely to be carried rather than win their loot through personal achievement. It also means that as more people lose interest it becomes even tougher (e.g. Last few weeks in year 2) Making it a bit more obtainable, e.g. Reducing the ticket to 8 or 7, would still be a stringent challenge, and most people wouldn't make it every week, but it would be just a bit more achievable than it is now. I think that would be a better balance.

6 RepliesI would, if Trials were structured in a way that RESPONSIBLE competitions are, where the goal is to identify the best players. Trials isnt'.....and misses the mark by a curvature-of-the-Earth. So the level of pretention in that statement is unwarranted, divisive...and contributes to the cancer on this game's community that Trials is slowly morphing into. IOW, The Lighthouse isn't for average players....unless they have friends who can carry them their....or the money to pay someone to do it for them. Rich man's war. Poor man's fight.

That way, the person who made that tweet and Luke Smith can stop alienating a large part of their customer base. Also, the pvp lead should probably avoid posting things like that given how bad they are at their job.
