Hey there,
Firstly, as you may have already guessed, I'm a noob to Destiny! I'm loving the main quest and have hit level 12. I am tempted to check out The Crucible for some PvP, but am concerned that I'll rock up against a stack of legendary-geared maxed-out psycho's that will just hammer my excitement into the ground...
So what's the thought here? Give it a go, or wait? I know I could go and find out for myself, but the prospect of the aforementioned butchering is putting me right off.
So, should I man up? Or wait to grow up?!

Make sure you're about to level up before you go in and have 1 bounty completed Then you can get sooo much hate mail accusing you of being a cheater because you leveled up and got your super as soon as you hit the ground (fun way to get your team supers real quick and piss off the enemy team)

There are no light advantages in Crucible. Iron Banner and Trials are the only exception to that unless you are playing private matches where light level is enabled. My advise is to just jump in, play, have fun, and draw your own conclusions as to the state of the Crucible.
(You'll run into those psychos you are worried about at any level, so why wait.)
Level doesn't matter in regular Crucible. Gear up and get in.

Wait for Destiny 2

Edited by Swiftlock: 10/18/2016 4:24:08 PMLight level/XP level means nothing in regular Crucible. Only in Trials and Iron Banner. If you are comfortable and confident in your loadout, then go for it. If you're not, then don't.

Edited by Samantha: 10/18/2016 4:24:47 PMGet a subclass leveled up. Going into PvP with a low-leveled subclass is a bad idea. Otherwise, I'd advise getting a feel for a loadout in PvE. Perhaps even find a private match with a group of people just to get the feel for PvP.

You can give it a go. It won't be a true big deal. I've seen players with "white" guns still rock a game. The only times light are a factor is Iron Banner/Trials. Of which you haven't hit the req'd 40 yet to enter. You could very well want to take advantage. For crucible matches will help level up your character faster than just running patrols/missions.

Wait until they buff primarys (never)

Regular crucible light level and weapons don't play as big of a role but trials, iron banana and some others enable light difference

Man up. Even if you lose you will get good gear. Do it, it's very fun. Hang in there. Have patients and you will get better. Good luck.

Just try to get the crucible bounties done and be on your way. Best way to level up quick is bounties. No one cares if you don't do well. Everyone knows you have to jump through the hoops
