I'm trying to get my dad to try out destiny as he hasn't tried a shooter in a while and I'm interested to see if he is interested in my favourite game.
My one thought before firing up the game is, what subclass should I start him off with. If anyone's got a spare moment I'd love to hear what you love about your main subclass.
Edit: Thanks for replies, it's really quite awesome to see how there are tons of different things people like their subclass for. I've got tons I can tell my dad before he makes a choice on his first subclass now. Thanks everyone.

Love Nova bomb, with blink you have agility. And major damage in pve and pvp
-
Easy....i body check people
-
You should start him up with a hunter golden gun because the jumps are easy to learn the grenades are easy to use but he might have trouble with them until he reaches the tripemine or the swarm grenade. Also the super is probably the easiest super to use, all you have to do is aim and shoot. Also when he reaches the part where the gunsmith gives him a weapon at the begining, make him choose an auto rifle because since you start with the khovostov which is an auto rifle, he shouldnt have that much trouble using another one. Hope it helps you and your dad:)

I would start him out as a Gunslinger. Easy to pick up, you don't have to have amazing situational awareness to be effective in a fireteam, plus throwing knives are fun. Once he gets comfortable then I would have him switch to Nightstalker for support.

"Beautiful lethality, relentless style" Nothing more Nothing less
-
Imo, the hunter will feel most familiar right off the bat in regards to movement and jumps. But no one is gonna complain having a bubble titan support the team. And a warlock that can self rez will be more forgiving from silly deaths while he learns.
-
I feel hulkish
-
bladedanced is agile and stealthy, but for a first timer, maybe start with voidwalker or striker.
-
My striker Titan is my favorite character even though I've tried all 9 options. The armor is high so I can go "balls to the wall Titan style" as my bf and I say. The double jump is very easy to use, both shoulder charge and a charged melee have transfusion so I go back to full health will a kill. The super is easy to use (they all are really except golden gun) and it's easy to get multikills and create 7 or so orbs for your team.

Gunslingslog. They're cool.
-
TBH just let your dad play around with ur characters (supervised) so he can see what kind of jumps/ supers he likes. Gun archetypes can be determined after
-
Stormcaller Warlock. You really can't get better than floating round destroying everything with Sith lightning and landfall when you unleash it is just the icing on the cake.
-
I like Gunslinger because of the reload and stability perks. feelsgoodman.jpg
-
Warlocks, I love their looks.
my warlock is really sexy tho you should see him
-
The pain riddled screams of my enemies as I turn them to ash with the cleansing fire of stars
-
Gunslinger. Low ROF high impact handcannon, two throwing knives with juggler. Shoot once and aim the knife for the head and congrats, you've got your throwing knife back along with one in reserve.
-
Bubble bros are fun!
-
Nightstalker gets two grenades, an enhanced tracker, and a void bow that locks enemies into place. Can't ask for more.
-
I don't play much shooter games and started out as a hunter exclusively unlocking all 3 subclasses before attempting the other 2 classes. I've since unlocked both titan and locks all 3 subclasses and found that titan striker probably would have been the best for me to start out with. The high armor and easy jumping mechanics is the difference for me since I didn't have much experience playing shooter games.

Scatter grenade, blink

Voidwalker is the concept of staring into a void and not coming back the same but better, more understanding. The ability to use a "Light" that warps space and time while also being kind of Dark in its own way. I like the way the subclass now has a self-sustaining vampire like play now. So long as you string together kills with energy drain, you'll almost never run out of a grenade and can keep yourself alive. I kind of wish Embrace the Void also affected the cooldown of Energy drain.
-
Voidwalker. Scatter nades, nothing manacles, embrace the void, and an unending hunger to throw countless grenades at anything that moves. Also I second Stormcaller with sexy boots.
-
Titan like smash. Smash make bad guys go zap.
-
Void lock, nova bombs, energy drain for infinite nades and ophidian aspect for QuickDraw
-
Even though I main a Titan warlocks have some of the most fun subclasses in my opinion
-
space magic....
