I rarely see them used, and i can understand why. CRAP, GARBAGE, TERRIBLE RANGE. Every negative word in the dictionary. Slow RoF ARs need a buff to range. I say doubled the range but even then the range would still be pathetic on alot of auto rifles. Auto rifles with max range SHOULD NOT get damage falloff before a last word with aggresives. (1 RANGE) Tested it in private matches. A last word w aggresives can fire slightly further than a suros regime with linear comp, focused fire, and hammer forged (maxed range AR) Which is ABSOLUTELY STUPID. Not saying last word has too much range, its just pathetic how a maxed range auto has less range than a handcannon with 1 range. Slow/mid RoF need a significant range buff, and a slight damage buff. Oh, and btw bungie i mean enough damage increase to where you can actually see the number increase in game. Even then, i doubt autos will be competitive again, but this helps. They would need a HUGE buff to become meta. A max range auto should be able to compete at least in the same range as a medium ranged pulse.

3 RepliesMy Soulstealer's Claw beats almost all weapons. But the low rof rifles do need some love.
-
5 RepliesHigh impact ARs need a buff. So does focus fire.
-
My Fabian strategy works great 😆

It's the MROF Auto rifles that you want to use. The Dead Orbit one Exemophile or whatever it's called does great work. Prior to getting this gem some other strong ARs in this archetype are Paleocontact & Righteous VII. You want stability and magazine. Guns like Shadow Price would be friggin amazing if they only held more bullets in the clip.

7 RepliesMy Red Spectre works fantastic. Idk what you're talking about. Suros Regime is pretty trash honestly..
-
2 RepliesRange is not a critical stat with the auto because you can't kill at long distances with them anyways...too much spread when firing. Having said that, they could stand a range buff to help with drop off.lol Try the mid HROF archetype, it's the best we have since the patch. Good old meat and taters (hatchet) is still my favorite along with the Claw.

The dead orbit Auto is a beast....

1 ReplyGood old auto rifles. The first victims of bungie's tendency to over nerf things when complained about. Vanilla, auto rifles murdered almost across map and were the go to for everyone. Then bungie nerfed the shit outta them to unusable levels either a little before or when dark below dropped. TTK brought them back up to being half decent favouring the high rof autos and now they aren't too bad. Low rof autos could probably use some additional range but the others are decent. They are intended to be more the run and gun option in general and are intended for closer ranges and can push into mid if you're decent with them.

I've got a suros ari-45 from a long time ago with hcr/smallbore/counterbalance and I outgun a lot of scouts at range. You just gotta learn how to use them I suppose.
-
Ohh how auto rifles used to be the bane of the crucible. Suros regime was something to fear back in the day. It's still good but the OP days were crazy.
-
2 RepliesLast word does have stupid long range.
-
AR's are in a decent place right now but they're made for aggressive play, if you want to play more passively it's the wrong archetype for you a scout or pulse might be better suited to your play style. TLW is fine too, nowhere near the broken mess it was in year 1 it's just overused, it's no doubt a very strong tier 1 weapon for 3 v 3 game modes but is a little lacking in 6's which is where AR's are most comfortable especially on smaller tighter maps.
-
I think they are ok. I just started using suros again and its a beast.
-
2 RepliesHaven't played with autos but from watching Trevorki I feel like autos are in a decent place as I believe the weapon with the highest amount of flinch should have the lowest ttk. I think they need a small pve buff tho
-
Ranges should be; from lowest to highest: shotguns, fusion rifles, handcannons, machine guns, auto rifles, pulse rifles, scout rifles, sniper rifles/rocket launcher. I feel that they are pretty damn close or right on the money. Only variance comes from extreme specialization in perks... Remove certain perks from certain classes...lol...

Range in general needs scaled back quite a bit. Part of why everything felt better in year one is because the range stat wasnt really active until 2.0. Once it got put on ghost bullets and the hit detection became a lot worse
-
They have their place in the mid range game with rangefinder it helps a bit but if you want more range scout rifle..even pulse rifles have decent range
Hardlight is one of my favorites for the no damage fall off and I'd you pulse the trigger you can use it effectively at a good distance

also I'm average to bad at crucible but I still have fun with most autos and if I can do decent with them anyone can
New trials auto rifle is great. Got one adept and it feels pretty crisp .
-
Idk, I've been getting out ranged by a Suros regime way too often when I'm using my full auto Suros scout from the gun smith. Just gotta use the right auto rifle I guess
-
Edited by SactownNoob: 10/4/2016 1:10:49 AMDepends on gun and roll. Honestly they are not a ranged rifle. Try a scout with auto instead. I added an unfinished montage with all auto action, you're welcome LOL

I just use hardlight. No damage fall off and large mag

1 ReplyHave you tried grim citizen? My roll has same range and impact as a mida
-
Rangefinder and braced frame ;)

I've had decent luck with SUROS Regime at moderate ranges. Further out, you want s Scout or sniper anyway.

I suck at using auto and get owned by them pretty often lately
