Shouldn't Saladin and Eris have some plot connection?

Both were the last surviving members of their teams, yet Saladin has handled the loss in a much more healthy way. Seems like a missed opportunity that we have had both of them in the tower for almost 2 years yet they basically never mention each other. Would have made for some great dialog.

But its a way different scenario Saladin lost his team and got out no problem bc the others shut the door and saved him. Eris lost hers and survived the fight and had to survive in the dark after and fight her way back home, she would've died if she didn't embrace the darkness. So I'm willing to bet it wasn't the loss of her team that drove her insane but the darkness itself.

  • It would be a neat thing to have seen, but I doubt it would've gone well Eris was left to suffer and basically went nuts, while Lord "Salad" bucked up and became a literal give-no-shits soldier I kinda imagine everybody's favorite Iron Lord would want to go pet on his wolfies after having a cup of coffee/tea with the crazy Hive lady

    • I honestly don't think they should because they are from two different areas and two different times. I mean, if you're talking conversation, I dunno. Yeah they lost their teammates and became the sole survivors but how they handled it themselves would be entirely different. While Eris is all about avenging her fallen comrades and wanting revenge from Crota and the Hive in general, Saladin has an entirely different approach. Sure, it was on the same line of wanting to avenge his comrades as well, but collecting their artifacts and all is a sign of remembrance and memory. A sign of closure and seeing what happened to them, while Eris is all "Kill them all because my comrades are dead! Yah!" Their stories are different, as are their reactions and no doubt they would clash with their opinions and points. Eris is all about vengeance while Saladin is all about honor and prosperity for the future of mankind. To be blunt as well, Saladin was at the tower for the Iron Banner. The only thing he cared about at that time was sharing a bit of history for the Iron Banner and seeing competition. He had no other interest than to talk to the Vanguards and Lord Shaxx. Why talk to some mad woman that happened to live in that pit for months, almost a year or more with Hive? Plus, she has three HIVE eyes! Creepy! Sure, I guess they can say, "I know what it feels like to lose comrades," but other than that, they wouldn't want to talk about their pasts with each other because it would be too painful, no matter. And no doubt if you brought it up with Eris she would go into an episode of madness and mutter rhymes and other things that wouldn't make sense. As collected as Eris is, she is also equally unstable and insane. For Saladin, he wouldn't want to surround himself with someone like that. Not Eris' fault, but it's how she turned out to be and from what I can tell, Saladin wouldn't want to talk or deal with her.

      • Hmmm. Leave the awesome fortress on top of an icy peak to go to the tower to hang out with the creepy hive lady hiding beneath the stairs. Nah, think I'm gonna just stay up here with my fluffy wolves. "Who's a good fallen killer? You are! You are!" :3

      • Not sure that there is much of a story at all but i get what you're saying. Maybe she was subjected to the hive way longer? Idk. Destiny 2 should have an actual story if early rumors are true. Let's hope

      • I don't think so. Eris had to spend years amongst the HIVE. The mother -blam!-ers eat brains and light for breakfast, Gjallahorn shots for lunch, and the darkness for dinner. They're insane! It also made Eris scarred for life (aka the whole three eye thing) and sorta made her go crazy. Saladin believed his friends were dead and moved on (I say believe bay because of the Iron Tomb mission). He devoted his life to training others amongst the light. So yeah....Eris is crazy and Saladin isn't

      • Saladin afterwards was able to move about Earth and have interactions with people and still basked in Light. Eris was sealed away in a Hive fortress amongst the literal monsters that killed her friends, having to use the Darkness just to survive, which brings her extreme suffering, and in that time learned all about the Hive, inside and out. Additionally, as has been pointed out, they come from different times and different circumstances, as well as different personalities. It would be difficult for them to interact.
