I only have about 30 rounds of ammo for the rifle that I own. If the ammo wasn't so dang expensive, I'd have much more. That's just one of the inconveniences of owning a 50+ year-old rifle.

You can always take up the skill of making and reloading ammo. Cheaper but more dangerous.

I have my Grandfather's rifle from WW2. An Enfield 303. I never see ammo for it anywhere.

Soooo while I understand the point your making, the Springfield M1 Garand was made 80 years ago and uses extremely easy to find and cheap 30-06 rounds....
