I ran into "that guy" yesterday

Soooo I'm sitting here wanting to do the raid on my third character. 3 hours until reset. I was looking for some people on lfg of course cause none of my friends stay up that long. It should be pretty easy to find a group cause I'm a 373 light and people tend to want 370+ a lot. And I ran across a group on lfg saying this is our first time but we know what to do. And I thought screw it I've been sitting here for 10 minutes looking for a group so I'll try this group. I joined and they were all 362-366's. So I thought "well this is gonna be bad." Well it wasn't. These people were amazing and it was all their first runs. And they did know what to do cause they apparently used YouTube to find it all out. We ran through the first boss on our second try which is very surprising for their first time. Ran through Zamboni on our first try. All in 30-45 minutes. Not only that but they were really nice and unique people. One guy had a Russian accent and called us all brothas everytime on callouts. They were funny as hell too. They kept going with jokes throughout the raid and we all had our laughs. Now when we got to the final boss it took about 5 tries to get phase 1 done but that's alright and we were all positive about it throughout the whole thing saying gg and nice try we'll get them next time. We started phase 2 and I was surprised by how many dps we were doing. First round we got his health right between a and r everytime. We didn't beat it tho. People kept making mistakes here and there and we didn't even get mad. We just all laughed it off when someone fell off with his scorch cannon on the fifth round. We were at it for about an hour and we kinda just called it a night. No one left without saying anything. They just said it was all fun but they need to sleep cause they got work tomorrow and stuff and we all said GG. Now here's where it gets -blam!-ed up. I stayed up and went to look for a group cause I still had about 1 hour to 1 hour and a half. I went on lfg and found a group saying must be 370+ with emblem. Well I joined figuring we would get it done fast. As soon as I join the party some kid goes "you got a -blam!-ing mic?" I said yes and he was like ok. I joined the game and they were all 374 to 384. They were quiet for like a whole 2 minutes. They told me to get middle and use storm trance for captain. I did that and I didn't mess up and I did what I was supposed to do. I called it out when I was empowered. I didn't hear other people call out the servitors or who's empowered. No one had the right side so we failed and wiped and they all started screaming in the mic insulting each other. Keep in mind they were adults. Only one kid. We kept going and we kept messing up and I stayed because I had this stupid thought in my head. "They're all 370's so I have to stay we can beat this." Well bullshit. We kept failing and the worst part is they kept shooting the boss but did horrible dps. It only went between c and h. We failed once because we didn't do enough dps. And then another time we were on the last round and I was empowered, I slammed but when I did the boss launched me across the map and I died. Which never happened to me and I figured it happened cause I jumped after slamming. Cause whenever I don't jump after slamming it never happens. So keep in mind when you slam just walk off the boss and do dps don't jump especially if your a warlock floating in mid air. So since I died this kid goes "we didn't do enough dps cause he died he just -blam!-ed it all up for us." Which shocked me cause that was my first mistake and everyone makes mistakes and I didn't know I could get launched off. But one other guy in the party who was mostly quiet the entire time spoke up and said "it wasn't his fault man you need to chill it's a game." The kid replied with "shut the -blam!- up dude I don't care." Next few rounds that quiet dude messed up FOR THE FIRST TIME and didn't slam when the boss teleported right. Which is fine cause everyone hesitates every once in a while and I knew that was his first mistake so I wasn't mad. Now here's the part that disgusts me. He said "sorry guys my bad." And everyone replied with "yeah your bad." And everyone left the party one by one saying their final words before they leave like "you guys suck" and "-blam!- you all" and "go to hell." Everyone left except that quiet dude and we just sat there having a conversation about how harsh they were. Funny thing is this guy has been doing good too. He was the 384. He did the most dps everytime and killed his captain fast. He was the leader of the fire team. He did talk a lot he just spoke in a low volume. Or maybe he didn't maybe it's just me cause no one seem'd to have a problem hearing his callouts. We sat there talking about how some people in this community are really assholes and they don't even communicate and they blame it on other people. We just said "oh well" at the fact that the reset is in 5 minutes. We added each other and he said we should definitely do the raid some day considering me and him did the highest dps. So yeah I didn't beat the raid on my third character but it's fine cause I did a big portion of it and got enough loot to infuse for my main hunter to make him 376. But my mind was off of that. I was mad about the fact that people really just don't have hearts in this game sometimes. I honestly don't care about light level anymore. It doesn't mean shit. If I'm ever 385 I wouldn't mind doing the raid with low light levels. As long as they are nice people I don't mind. I mean 360's did twice the damage the 370's did. I'm still shocked by how rude they were. No gg's or any of that. They treat this game like its their life. But I'm glad I met the nice people in the first group. I actually got an invite this morning from one of them and we two manned the s.a.b.e.r nightfall on all three characters. God people can be -blam!-ing rude sometimes but what can we do. Anyways you all have a great day and remember to respect your fellow brothers and sisters. And don't stress too much about light levels. EDIT Thanks to everyone for the compliments and for sharing you're good and bad raid experience. We need more people with common sense in this game. Anyways, that first raid group that I friended? Well we played again and I'm pretty sure we're one of the first few people to get the 5th monitor. 2 hours after datto got it so that's pretty cool. Oh and we beat everything first try this time and beat Aksis phase 2 on our second try. Hope you guys find your raid group soon to stick with. I see lots of people recommending clans so go ahead and give that a try. Just stay positive whether you win or lose and you'll be just fine. TL;DR: people are assholes

    • It's always good when you meet someone like that who is chill the whole time, had I been fireteam leader, I would of kicked the kid a long time ago if I heard him say "You got a -blam!-ing mic?

    • The first time I beat hard oryx I had three friends and three randoms we all weren't very good, but we never got mad at each other. After like two hours of trying we finally beat it

    • Dude, i have yet to complete the raid. I kill my captain fast, i dont mess up empowerment, doing constant call outs when necessary. Even making sure people are in place for empowerment. Im helping out when ppl die. I stay alive even tho im 365. Its infuriating. Theres always 1 guy who messes up. Theres been a few times we got close but the group ended up leaving, because its late, got work. Another time we were had 3/4 health taken of aksis then a guy lags out and doesnt come back online. I feel like completely giving up on aksis all together because everyone i play with are complete cabbages. I cant find the right group, i officially hate lfg now.

      • My lfg raid team ditched a guy on the outbreak prime quest on step 8 because he would constantly go afk in the raid. So a warlock who did it already in the group offered to help if we kicked him.

      • Iv only used lfg a few times and it really put me off. I had a similar group on crota. They invited me from the tower so not really lfg. If someone messed up the others went ballistic. I just left. I'm there for a laugh as well as getting things finished. If we die 400 times who cares. Just laugh it would off and try again. GG dude. 😁

            • I'm was doing Kings Fall just two weeks before Rise of Iron came out. Now I like to think that I'm a decent Oryx runner, I'm a Warlock but I've heard mad compliments about me being runner on Oryx. So I was just looking for people on the forums and I found some people. About three of them were chill and the other two were some tough business. One was an elitist and the other was "that guy". So we ran through the parts leading up to Warpriest in no time. Then the elitist pulled out the Spindle card and asked if we all had it. We all replied yes and we moved on. Then we took down Warpriest and Golgoroth. We got to daughters and this is when "that guy" comes into play. When I intially made the raid post I said that I'm a good Oryx runner (which also involves daughters) and that I have done it millions of times. "That guy" said he could do both. Of course since daughters is random, It landed on me. "That guy" said to wipe. No one listened. Then the elitist spoke up and asked "that guy" if he looked at the post I made. "That guy" said that since I was a Warlock, there was no way that I was good enough. I ignored him and I said let's get this done. We burned through daughters. At Oryx CP, "that guy" spoke up again to say that he should be runner. At this point, everyone was ready to gang up on him. So I said that I'm runner and that's that. Then I said that I have to go to the bathroom but I really didn't need to. I messaged everybody except for "that guy" that on the part where Oryx is in the middle with no health, I'm going to kick "that guy" so everybody needs to be good with dps. When I was done, we did exactly that on our first run. On the last dps phase though "that guy" got off his platform early, though I was fast (for a Warlock) and since that was the last platform, I got the relic. When Oryx came up in the middle and I asked if everyone was ready. "That guy" thought I meant killing Oryx. While dps happened, I hopped into the menu and I kicked "that guy" then I had enough time to kill Oryx. We got stuff, he didn't. That's what you get "that guy"

They started talking about age and whatnot so the oldest member was 58, like what the hell do you do with your life. I told them my age and boy that turned grim very quickly. The party leader started saying stuff about things he did as a teenager, the other did the same. I got killed during the slam and all of them suddenly started saying that if they ever saw me they would gangbang me and I quote "Rip that tight hole wide open" So not only there's colossal asswipes in this community, there's also pedophiles and sex predators my goodness gracious.

                    • To all those out there who don't raid, don't fret! YOU TOO can meet 'that guy' simply by doing SIVA heroic strikes now! Last night I landed in with a team of two. So we get Shield Brothers, which tbh is a bit of a pain on solar burn so we were dying quite a bit. I died three times trying to res the others and we wiped (I felt kind of guilty because in the Dust Palace previously I grabbed the heavy before them, even though they had gone past it, so I was trying to be extra helpful and making some bad decisions). So then I get a message "-blam!- off wanker!". That's when I realised it was that guy!!! They obviously had enough time to set up a group and message me while constantly waiting to be res'd. I hadn't recognised them to begin with (maybe because they were a noob), but yep, it was that guy alright. I hope they enjoyed being reported and going on to try to finish with two, it certainly wasn't worth my time. Anyway, I refuse to let it colour my regard for the general Destiny population because I've met far more cool people here than douches.

                      • I've come to the conclusion that some people in this community have reached the pinnacle of their life in this game. Haha. I have a solid group but even the best of us screw up from time to time. It's all about keeping it fun and relaxed even when things aren't going right.

                      • I've seen so much hate in destiny, especially in raids if it's not PVP. I've had guys randomly join my parties and call me a bitch for killing them and then leave. Or girls think I'm "targeting" them on 6v6. Not to mention in one raid 2 of the 335s were talking down to a 298 who was doing better than both of them in Kings fall. Destiny has either really hateful people or super laid back and sweet people. There's no in between.
