To All Who Prepared For ROI

For the past few months I saw endless amounts of guides posted on YT and the forums on how to prepare for ROI, advising to grind and store your exotic and legendary Engrams, edging your factions, prepping 5K EXP bounties, storing glimmer and material. I saw people grind for months and filling their storage with everything they could When ROI came out, I saw people rushing through the campaign in a hurry to get knighted as an Iron Lord, frenetically looking for medallions for Gjallarhorn, and weapon parts for the Khvostov. Now, I see people complain about now there is nothing left to do, how boring it is, and bla bla bla. Well, what did you you think was going to happen? you rushed though everything like it was a race instead of taking you time to enjoy it all, go exploring like in Vanilla, take time to enjoy the sights, walk through the missions. I see all these posts complaining about the Grind. What??? you really want everything handed to you on a silver plate on the first day? Remember the day when Gjallarhorn randomly dropped and how it felt when you finally got it? Stop rushing and smell the roses once in a while!!! Enjoy the game, and don't forget that this is only the beginning. There is still more content to come Edit 1: Forgot to say: Trolls will Troll and hate mail will come. No Prob Edit 2: Stole this list from another post. Will Include his name when I find it again. Things to do: -Rise of iron record book -Archons Forge -Wrath of the Machine -Strikes -Nightfall -Custom Games -PvP -Wrath of the machine heroic (when it's released) -Get to the top of felwinter peak -All new Iron banner (when it is released) -All new trials (when it's released) -Prison and challenge of elders -Court of oyrx -Join a clan -Do PvP tournaments -Do all 4 exotic questlines -Kings fall -Level 40 Light level 400 -Play through the entire story in chronological order from Vanilla to rise of iron -Collect all Siva and calcified fragments -Collect all dead ghosts -Increase grimorie -Collect all exotics -Help other guardians -Patrol missions -Public events -All golden chests -SRL (when it's released) -Old raids (when they are made relevant which should come in an update similar to the April update) -Festival of the lost (when it's released in less than a month) -Bungie should have some event for us around Christmas time. You can do all these things to entertain yourself and improve your guardian...

  • 20 of the things you mentioned we could do and have been doing for 3 years now. I have done zero prep, I beat the story, have played archons forge, done all 3 "new" strikes. Raiding tonight. Iron Banner is old. Trials is old. I put maybe 4 hours into this expansion and done just about everything besides raid... soo yea. People's complaints are valid.
Now, I see people complain about now there is nothing left to do, how boring it is, and bla bla bla.
No joke, most of that comes from people who didn't hardcore prepare for ROI...Common misconception really. I would wager that the guys who hit 375+ prior to WotM dropping are still having plenty fun.

  • Maybe you should just stop worrying about what others say and how they decide to play. Just focus on yourself and enjoy the game how you want to play.

  • Those are the things to do for players that aren't high light yet. Players that are 370+ don't really need to do most of those things. Misleading list.

I am 385 light on all 3 characters and not a single complaint from me. Absolutely loving RoI so far. We still have undiscovered exotics to search for as well. Exotic Arc rocket launcher and the Void/Solar thunder lords. All 3 are in game. Don't believe me? https://gamerant.com/destiny-rise-iron-perk-weapon-armor-raid/ Click that link and look through the perks. You will see incendiary rds for Solar Lord and Negative rds for void lord. As well as 2 perks relating to explosive ordinance and vollies. There is still plenty to do and see in RoI. Happy grinding everyone! Edit: The negative rds for Void lord are called Chasm rounds. Descriptions for chasm and incendiary rds are identical to Thunderlord's exotic perk.

      • People need to realize that preparing for an expansion makes the expansion seem worse. You get through everything much faster, which is not good considering that even without preparations, there are still periods where nothing is going on with how infrequently bungie adds content. In fact lack of preparation is the better way to make content last and enjoy it more. Preparation are for those perfectionists who want to be "pro," which honestly I don't get the point of. Why be pro if it takes away long-term enjoyment?

        • I prepped a little but it wasn't anything fancy: 9 exotic engrams- 4 boots, 3 heavy, 2 primary (new frostee boots, no new weapons), 900 heavy ammo which is pretty low considering I had a friend with 2500 and read about people having more, edged almost no factions, pulled two all-nighters in one week (monday and saturday), each character is 365+ and there is still plenty for me to do. The point of prepping is being able to complete the content without being smashed to pieces. If you keep getting destroyed because you're not high enough light then it's discouraging and you're less likely to have fun. Since Trials is LL based that's a big incentive for me as well.
Bring on comments about my k/d I can handle it: I deleted my Titan for old blues and had a few shit games as my first crucible matches on that character, my Hunter had 1.14 k/d in Trials but I got stomped the last weeked trying to do bounties with clanmates who didn't care to try, and my Warlock has only done Trials for bounties. I've been to the Lighthouse twice and held my own each time, doing as well if not better in some regards to my mates who are better than me. Also take into account that in y1 I didn't gaf about crucible and ran in like a madwoman. My skill has improved over the course of the last year; it's very hard to recover from a .30-.40 k/d which is what ballpark I'm assuming I was in.
• I saved engrams and materials, maxed glimmer and marks, edged factions, etc. My highest character is now 354? maybe. Still have lots of engrams in the vault and haven't even tried the raid yet. I still have a lot of stuff to do. Don't use blanket statements. It makes you look stupid.

            • I hoarded, turned in some to see what there is( not impressed), left plenty in bank for later, stayed mostly on 1 character grinding strikes for blues, using highest in a round for warlock, rest to bank. Warlock is 360 or so, put other stuff including artifacts on other 2, now all 3 around 360, and the other 2 still before perfected strike in storyline. Worked out pretty well, have got 2 keys in strike along with the perfected freebee. 1st one got me Malik's helmet( already had) 2nd and 3rd got me class items and 2 of the snipers, and an auto rifle I wasn't impressed with. But luckily the snipes were arc, so happy days for the strikes til burn changes)

            • I enjoyed preparing & strategizing how to level up quickly. Now I can look forward to doing the raid & playing multiplayer with friends, plus more story content & quests without worrying about my light level. I'm 386.

              • I prepped, stored engrams, leveled up quicly, got gjally and khvostov on day 1. I'm enjoying the expansion and have very few complaints, none of which relate to longevity. Assuming and generalizing makes you look foolish. If you haven't realized by now people will always find something to complain about, it would be wise for you to accept that and discontinue this waste energy.

If they keep the same sort of "release" schedule like they did with TTK (festival of the Lost, SRL) then I'll probably still be playing it until the end of the year and maybe a week or two into January. I was one of those who rushed to get everything, saved everything, edged everything. I still feel like I have a lot to do in the game. We will have a release of the Hard Raid, then a release of the Challenge for the raid. We have Iron Banner and Trials. Trials will be the only thing I play once I start to get bored with everything else. There's also going to be plenty of time locked quest and plenty of PvP tourneys to participate in. Although I will be content with playing Destiny for a good amount of time, at the beginning of next year, All I'll be doing is Trials. I do have my fingers crossed that they add some sort of Monthly PVE event and hopefully another Monthly PVP event, like Iron Banner. I also believe that come April, they're going to Re release the Legacy Raids for an April Update with new weapons and armor and also possibly new enemies and mechanics

                  • How many threads about the same topic do we need? Did you really need to make another, copy pasting things that have been said a thousand times over? You aren't even beating a horse anymore, at this point it's a fossil.

                  • People just see beyond the next month or so,it's not there's a lack of content now.Its just there's not enough consistent content to keep us going when we have to wait a year for anything new.

                  • Most of your list consists of things I've personally done way too much of already such as strike lists, CoO, etc.... Archon's forge drop rate and fact you can't stack offerings make it not really fun, I've spent hundreds of hours doing patrol missions... The raid is good but the grind to get high enough to beat the raid is sapping the fun out of this game overall, and the fact I'm doing all this just so the hard raid can increase the LL and make me do it again is not cool man, not cool

                  • I havent met a single person whos runs put of stuff to do in roi. The only people who complain about that stuff arent hardcore destiny fans. Which this is the same in any game like this, the scrubs and casuals always think there wasnt enough content.

85% of the things to do that you listed, were in the game before ROI, so saying that there is a lack of content is valid.
