Personally I prefer the burst mode over full auto, and I normally don't like pulse rifles. Still gives good dps but it's a little easier to control and less wasteful on ammo. With as much as the community clamors for the GoM, you'd think they'd be all over it. The problem with the semi-auto mode is it's just too fast, especially on 900 rpm. Unless you're just a robot, it's impossible to keep consistent or even achieve the optimal rof. Putting it on that mode needs to drop the rof a fair amount (and increase impact to match of course) so it's actually practical to use, in addition to a much more significant range boost. Even on 450 rpm, I feel like my trigger finger is going to snap off after just a few minutes. There's a reason why people usually don't bother with the highest rof scouts unless they have full auto.
