• my girlfriend and I have this problem on our PS4's. We both go into the PS4 network menu and click test network. That usually fixes it. Also rebooting both systems seems to work as well.

  • Hey man hopefully I can help. So The issue is that Bungie ahs changed their infrastructure for Destiny. There is a conflict with a certain type of UPNP connection which is very popular amongst commercial routers. I don't expect them to address or publicly comment on this but I've run a few test to determine the cause. Heres what worked for me. Comcast XB3 router/modem combo Disable the wifi in the UI for the modem. (type in 10.0.0.1 in your internet browser). Hardline your computer/laptop to your router and again type in 10.0.0.1 to reach the UI and set the modem/router combo to bridge mode. This essentially removes the router function from your formerly combo modem gateway/router. Pick a 3rd party router with a good UI and the option to toggle nat filtering. My choice was the Netgear AC3200 Nighthawk X6. Plug the new router directly into your gateway. Using the netgear wizard setup your connection. Boom done. Everyone on the network should have open NAT and the correct Upnp/ssdp settings.

  • Bump, me and 3 others in my househd have the same issue. We have contacted PSN, and they trouble shooted a few things. They stated if this didnt work to contact bungie. Still doesnt work, you have to restore your licence multiple times and it sometimes works.

  • Likely due to last week's patch. Since... July? June? Bungie broke this function in the game... people joining eachother's fireteam while on the same home network. Last week they released a patch (finally) to try to fix said issue... AND from the looks of this forum it seems like they only made matters worse. There are various workarounds people have found to get themselves up and running again. It's not ideal but considering it took 2-3 months to fix the issue it might take another 2-3 months to fix their fix :-)

  • I have this trouble too, both of us are on same modem, never used to have trouble prior to ROI. FYI we find a reboot or two usually fixes...

    • We have the same problem in our household. An XB1s and XB1 console. What I have done in the past is to do hard resets on both xbox consoles (turn off the consoles, then unplug them). Usually this will work and will grant us a one-time ability to join each other's game. If we break the fireteam, then it will go back to "unable to join." If the game is being especially difficult, we have to hard reset the consoles AND the router. Destiny is the only game which is currently doing this. And from other threads I've posted on this subject, PS consoles suffer the same fate. Bungie - you didn't do a single thing to fix this with your most recent patches. Didn't used to be this way.

      • Been having the same issue lately. Then one night everything was fine and I wondered had they stealth fixed it. Last night however after several restarts it wasn't working and I realised that over the last few nights my wife had been appearing offline. Got her to do that with a restart of destiny (so we could have just been lucky) and invite me through the party app. We were able to join and stay connected the whole evening. Most probably just a coincidence of events and I haven't had a chance to repeat and test it yet. Couldn't hurt to give it a go.

      • My son and I had the same issue since patch 2.3.1.1. I finally broke down and downloaded a virtual router and installed it on my laptop and connect my Xbox to it instead of my ISP's modem. It works pretty good, a bit laggy at times so I stay out of crucible with it but every other activity it works great. There is a pretty good free one at codeplex

      • Bungie is addressing this problem currently. There is a very complicated tenporary fix where you do some stuff to your router but it is quite complicated.

Guys the issue has been found by myself. I've suggested a fix and have gotten hundreds of messages saying it worked. I have gotten some saying that it doesn't. I'll post below what i've come up with... My router settings have never changed since I started playing this game. Having said that I found a fix that is working for me. I logged into my router and it has 2 settings for upnp. 1: UPNP - Internet Gateway Device (IGD) / NAT-T 2: UPNP - Universal Plug and Play / SSDP Since day one i've used option number 1. Changed to option number 2 and i'm now able to join a friends fireteam thats on my network. Seems to me bungie has has it set so anyone using UPNP - Internet Gateway Device (IGD) / NAT-T can't connect to someones fireteam that is on the same network. Not sure if this was done on purpose or what but it's working for me. Now for some this did not work because their router does not have the option to changed between the 2 UPNP protocols. DR REPRISE has posted a solution for that which further backs what I've said since a computer uses both protocols. I'll post the link below where he explains and you can see my comments below. His solution is to use a mac but you can find instructions on how to do it on a PC until bungie fixes it. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/213700713?showBanned=0&path=0

        • BUMP. PLEASE FIX THIS BUNGIE. For real it has been weeks. I can't play with my kids. We have poured A LOT of money into this game and we can't play together. This is not right. You have been silent on this issue for a while and it isn't fair to your customers to not comment any more on the issue. Please help.

I could see it as there is a problem with IP Addresses with both consoles being in the same console. Each household has 1 IP Address, and with both consoles being in one house, Destiny could recognize both consoles as one. It's a shot in the dark, but it's better than nothing.

          • Had this too past few days, restarting both consoles solves this for us but after an hour or two usually one of us randomly gets kicked from the fireteam leaving us unable to rejoin until after restarting both consoles, hope you find a way around it !

          • Yep, same here. Can play with someone the other end of the country, can't play with someone sat in the same room. Really annoying. Surely it can't be that difficult?

              • Same for us. Seems something has been introduced that limits the game to one machine per router/net connection. Two games consoles in the same house sharing same router can not group. We can join other fire teams individually but not both to the same team.
