My suspicion is that Bungie believes they were too generous with Sterling Treasures, and limiting the Radiant Treasure to 1 per week will increase profit. Truth is Bungie really wants you to buy vanity items with real $ through micro-transactions.
- BNet user DeusFever on a similar thread. I can't add any more to this. It's summed up perfectly.

 • I just made a post about how I think they lowered the booster drop rate, severely. If not removed it entirely. This was along the same lines that they want us to buy the ones they just put on the shelf

 • you could add thats its a very mobile game thing to do

 • Microtransactions have been a staple in AAA game titles since Dead Space 3. It's as much a home console thing as it is a mobile game thing.

 • I dunno that I'd call it a staple of home console games. I've played a lot of home console games post dead space three that did not have microtransactions, or they were so completely out of the way that I never noticed they even existed. With mobile games they're ubiquitous. That being said, I agree with you that many home console games do have them, and I never find them acceptable.

 • They're far more prevalent than they should be. A lot of AAA publishers and developers seem to think it's acceptable now. Sqeenix, EA, Ubisoft, Bungie, they've all found microtransactions in full-priced games to be acceptable - when they are not.

 • Well like you, I agree that any prevalence is unacceptable.

 • You dont quite understand that what bungie did its is not just your average microtransactions is like a double microtransaction for lack of a better word. What they did with silver is getting somewhat common( still doesnt make it acceptable) but making a currency that is almost impossible to obtain without silver is entirely unique to destiny outside of free or mobile games.

 • I'm not an idiot, I know what Bungie has done. It doesn't matter either way. Microtransactions in full-priced games are never okay. The reason why mobile gaming gets away with it is because they, for the most part, are free. They get their revenue from running ads and from microtransactions. Which is fine. They need to make a profit from their efforts. Destiny is not free. In order to play RoI, you need to own TTK. In order to play TTK, you need to own vanilla. That's plenty of money already. To add in this Silver nonsense is nothing more than a quick money-grab, and the artificial rarity of Radiant Treasures is their way of trying to take more money from consumers.

 • I feel like Bungie doesn't even care about the people who have been here since day 1 and have supported them all this time. I've paid for every expansion up to this point, and this is how I get repaid? I pay $30 so you can lock one of the biggest new changes to customization behind Eververse and real money? Jesus Bungie how greedy can you get?

 • I wholeheartedly agree. I'm a Day 1 player. I missed out on the beta because I was too busy cooing over my newborn niece. I feel like their creative values for Destiny have changed in that time. Not only that, their business practices have changed as well. Back then, in vanilla Destiny, if you were to tell me that the Y3 storyline would be over in an hour and that customisation was, for the mostpart, locked behind a paywall, I'd have called you mental.

 • They never once mentioned in all the streams and previews that the ornaments were gonna be relegated to Eververse only. It feels like they're only after my wallet now, which is pretty shitty considering I've spent in excess of $150 over 2 years on this game. I'm not asking to be handed everything just don't treat me like I'm only worth the money I can give you

 • Yep. Exactly. Many people won't like it, but in the end Bungie won't care because it's all cosmetic and not required to advance in-game.

 • Which is fine. They'll just have to pay for it. I hope lots of people do! Maybe it'll pay for the next big update like the April one. That'd be nice. I personally refuse microtransactions, but I'd love everyone else to throw in their money so we can have new things. lol

 • I refuse just on principle. I have no issues with others buying them obviously, I just refuse to spend more money for things that don't actually do anything worth my money.
