There are lots of errors like this in Destiny. I have watched the weapons that someone killed me with for months-on-in and have noticed that what shows up by the person's name is wrong far more than it is correct. Also, when you adjust the perks on a weapon, a lot of the time the bar graph shows exactly opposite of what the wording says selecting the perk will do. I am sure that the new release will have a lot of great things in it, but I really wish they would spend equal time fixing the game we are playing.
