The fact that a multi-billion dollar corporation like EA can not support its servers for yet another one of its huge releases is pathetic. Whether this is a DDOS attack or an influx of players, their sheer inability to have stable functioning servers for even a simple beta test is pretty embarrassing. Excuses such as developers adjusting to current gen hardware and a boost in the playerbase really don't work anymore because they've already been used. They've suffered DDOS attacks before, so why don't they have better protection? They've dealt with a massive influx of players crashing their servers before, so why haven't they upgraded their servers? Considering EA is a multi-billion dollar corporation, they have no excuse for the sheer level of incompetence they've shown with the server issues they're suffering.

What weirds me out is that Titanfall 2, also an EA game, didn't have many connection issues during it's beta despite the fact that it was apparently also attacked. My understanding is that all they did was switch to a different server network and it was fine.

Wow dude. You've done something I've never seen on this app... You caused nearly every player/commenter to come together in agreement. Granted the agreement is that your an idiot who posted this with little to no knowledge. But nonetheless, that takes skill dude. Good job. On a side note, while I was dumb and graduated with psych degree, my friends who went into computer/IT work were saying how easy it is to cause ddos. My friend showed me how easy it is to make a lag switch in a few minutes(Granted I couldn't copy it, nor would want to, but someone or his skill can do it easily) My father also computer tech told me back when worked for AT&T repairing their servers and crap at headquarters, that they paid ridiculous amounts of money to IT'S just to repair server problems from natural occurences. He only had to work 3 months out of a year, supported 3 kids, he put mY bro and sis through college. So I can't imagine the obscene amount of money it would cost to protect people who are purposely attacking a server or network.

Right? Seriously, EA, buy the premium version of McAfee already, you cheapskates!
-
Do you know what a DDoS is ?
-
Every game that I've played (which is like 3 games) all have been hit with a DDOS attack at least once. It sucks
-
Aww look, the child doesn't know anything at all about networks and their security.
-
I don't get why major companies like EA can't just hire a dedicated squad of computer guru's to backtrack DDoSer's and give their information to the police.
-
Somebody doesn't know what DDOS is.
-
Dude you have no idea what you're talking about, you can't just buy some magic security against a ddos. And as far as their server support goes for BF1 it's a beta dude, the whole point is to see how far you can push the servers and then make adjustment before the final release. That's why they're doing it almost 2 whole months before the game releases, so they can fix shit. At least have some semblance of knowledge before you start ranting about shit.
-
Please explain how exactly you would defend against a DDoS attack. I am interested in knowing how you propose to defend against it.
-
I'm sure you know nothing about what a DDOS actually does
-
All those IPs.. no. Can't just buy an upgraded security program and hope that covers your ass lol. I think.. that this is a good thing. Too many people were on their knees ready to service these companies and BF1, mostly because this game series is the hipster alternative to CoD. When the new batch of kids catches wind and grows up, they'll hop on board the band wagon too and then you'll all leave it in the dust like Minecraft. This only rushed the inevitable.
-
Are.... are you even real?
-
While EA does have its flaws, I can assure you no one can prevent or protect themselves from a DDOS attack. Even the largest tech corporations are vulnerable to them.
-
>mfw kids don't understand what ddos is >mfw kids don't understand what a stress test is Proud of you. kek
-
DDOSing is going to be very hard to deal with when you are allowing IP address from all over the world to connect to the servers. It's going to be hard to tell who is friend or foe.
-
Quit your bitching.
-
Its beta calm down

I'm not worried about servers. Battlefield has usually always had that covered. I'm more concerned about the amount of bugs/issues I ran into by just playing 5 matches. I'm still planning on getting it day 1 but i'm REALLY worried that we'll be getting another BF4 launch. Which will just kill the game.
-
It's not like we have Quantum computing servers to take on the demands of every fluffy player out there logging on. Or an AI to defend said servers against smart fluffy hackers out there.
-
I'd say it's highly annoying that I can only join one rush server with a queue of 14
-
There's a difference between preparing for a flood and preparing for a DDoS from infected machines.
-
You can't really protect it from that. It overloads the servers with traffic.
-
I'm pretty sure running servers all across the globe and a game isn't that easy. From my understanding of a ddos it's when someone floods an ip or server with a bunch of fake traffic, enough so that it can cause issues server side. Last thing I'll say. It's just a game bro, go outside or do homework, it ain't that deep.
