First time I saw that "praise the light" emote, Dark Souls was all I could think about lol.

Destiny has taken a lot of inspiration from dark souls (the two are my favourite games so I love this)

While I don't necessarily see much relation to DS, future game developers would do well to heed how the Souls games changed the scene. Instead of simply "everyone wins", Demon ands Dark Souls paved the way for "everyone can win, but it will take all you've got".

Heart of the praxic fire is a link. There are other links but I can't for the life of me remember what they are. The souls franchise is definitely something to follow in the shadow of, but not neccesarily for the difficulty. There is amazing location and creature design - second to none - as an example.

Hmm yea I can see the relation there. I don't mess with hunters or warlocks much. I saw a good video a while ago about the evolution of video games, the difference between hard and punishing and how Dark Souls really shook things up and proved that a game can brutally difficult without being punishing. I don't mean to sound like a fan boy but after Souls, all my other games save for Destiny just don't shine anymore. No sense of danger or excitement outside of playing through a story once.

Yeah the only games I particularly enjoy these days are destiny and dark souls, but only the third.
