If sniping is so easy, why aren't you doing it?
Curious, considering the amount of babies posting about how "OP" they are.

1 ReplyI like all of the 'all I need to do is drag my crosshairs and bam! Instagod tier streamer'. Like, really? I've tried to snipe, and it's totally different than a regular gun's ADS. I just can't get the hang of it. So yea, I'll stick to Shotguns. It's easy to just pull R2 when the enemy takes up 50% of my screen :)

1 ReplyDue to primaries being nerfed, snipers are ruining the game. Way too many people are using the as a primary. Just rename the game 'Snipe Cheese'.....ha

We'll call it [i]"Gjallahorn's Revenge: Return of the People Who Can't Be Assed To Think"[/i]. The title is a work in progress. Compounding the problem is surely a great way to solve it.

its hard to take objectives like B with a sniper because its usually in a small room full of shotgunners. I find using a shotgun benefits you more for objective games and staying alive in general, primarys do not have the time to kill to stop a shotgunner from closing the gap, so its best to use a shotgun to counter a shotgun rusher. I find that trying to snipe a rushing shotguner is very risky and very inconsistant so i stay away from sniping.

Only reason i say its op is because of all of the close quater kills that ive gotten killed by. It pisses me off. Sniping isnt difficult but it isnt easy. Ive learned to counter snipers but sometimes in maps like pantheon its a bit too hard to counter them. Then when I did get in my mid to close range combat I either got sniped or bombarded by grenades. I also think its too easy to land headshots. But thats my opinion.

7 RepliesCore of the issue is not so much that sniping is easy. There are obviously skills you need to snipe proficiently. The problem is the mechanics in place that should allow proper countering and actually make sniping a lower rock activity than it should be. Flinch moves the same way every time and re-centers in a consistent and timely way. People have gotten used to using a poorly implemented and predictable mechanic instead of actual gun skill. When you are presented with the right opportunity to counter a sniper and are doming them repeatedly they should not be able to get accurate shots off as consistently and easily as they do. There are situations that should allow any medium to long range primary to counter a sniper. The problem is that no sniper will run from that fight because the current flinch makes it a very low risk activity because they know they just have to wait for the flinch to re-center. Allowing sniping to become a low risk high reward activity. Flinch movement needs to be randomized and not re-center. This would mean that actual thumb skill (Something Bungie talk about wanting to promote) is needed to reacquire your target instead of timing a broken mechanic.

Simple question. Is a sniper rifle a CQC weapon? That is why it receives so much hate, CQ kills.

I use snipers exclusively in PvE but after trying them in PvP a few games I decided they were boring, the kills weren't as exciting, and I felt like a detriment to my team by waiting for a shot. Of course this was back in year one so theres that to consider.

i cannot get myself to play with crutch weapons or classes. i simply cannot take the fun out of the game for me or others.

12 RepliesI prefer being in the fight - cqc - to sitting back and sniping. If you're a good sniper, then you should not be against increasing flinch when hit while ADS and full de-scope when headshot while ADS with a sniper rifle.

4 RepliesCuase it's too easy that's why, you can duck in and out of cover pulling off headshots you can fast walk left right up and down stairs and the scope will stay centred, you can win close to mid range drawing contest with it's less than one second quick scopes, even while being head shot you can head shot back and kill them in under one and half seconds.

I wouldn't call them overpowered, but the reason why I don't use them anymore is because I don't enjoy "peek a boo" and would rather use fusion rifles now.

7 RepliesFor some reason, I can't snipe at all in destiny, I'm just really terrible at it, the aim acceleration and aim assist feel so akward In games like overwatch and halo, I'm a top tier sniper.

8 RepliesI have been sniping since before the snipers were the Meta. I don't get what the big deal is to be honest. There are a lot of people using them sure, but very few of them I haven't been able to kill with my trusty Scout Rifle NITC.
