A lot of people seem to have the wrong ideas about the Vex Mythoclast these days. Maybe it's just Year 2 players, maybe it's people with PTSD from how good it used to be..But they seem to think it's either going to be overpowered or underpowered, and prefer it to be the latter. I kid you not, there were points where the gun was competitive but not dominant in PvP. Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we? IT'LL BE A LONG ONE.
Vex Mythoclast Base Damage decreased by 34% Increased Precision Damage multiplier from 1.25 -> 1.50 (headshot bonus)
Immediately players realized Bungie had overnerfed the Vex Mythoclast, whether it was intentional or unintentional who knows. The damage nerf ended up being around 50% which crippled the weapon.
Vex Mythoclast Attack Power increased to 323 (from 300) Base Damage increased, fixing bug we introduced in previous patch Enhanced Battery upgrade by Extended Mag (this change still allows for a significant upgrade to Magazine Size, but less than before)
THIS was the most balanced version of the Vex we ever had. It was consistent, and regained a respectable time to kill alongside a modest magazine size.
Fusion Rifles Widened blast pattern on a Fusion Rifle burst cone Reduced starting ammunition in PVP
Consistency issues start to plague the Vex Mythoclast at those medium ranges. It was still a good weapon, just not as crispy as it was before.
Weapons Fixed an issue in which Vex Mythoclast was not respawning with primary ammunition
AKA: You can use the Vex Mythoclast again and not feel like a jackass.
Fusion Rifles Fusion Rifles now no longer get more accurate with each projectile fired Fusion Rifles that are slow charging, high impact now have a slightly lower base Range value, making it harder to max out range for these weapons Accuracy increased for low range Fusion Rifles; Accuracy reduced for high range Fusion Rifles Max Fusion Rifle projectile speed decreased slightly Damage done against AI combatants increased by 15% Vex Mythoclast Projectile Speed increased to compensate for global Fusion Rifle changes Stability increased to compensate for global Fusion Rifle changes Year One Perks Aggressive Ballistics: Reduced damage bonus by 50%. Increased stability and range penalties by 100% Extended Mag: Reduced magazine bonus by 33% Linear Compensator: Reduced damage bonus by 50% Send It: Reduced by range bonus 40%. Inventory and equip penalties added Smart Drift Control: Reduced stability bonus by 40%. Reduced range penalty by 33%
Times start getting rough for Mythoclast users. The first change that effected accuracy for each projectile fired really hurt the Vex, since it fired one bolt at a time. The Vex Mythoclast was technically a high-range Fusion Rifle, so it got two accuracy nerfs in one. The projectile speed nerf wasn't quite offset by the buff, and the blanket stability buff was..Pretty underwhelming since it lost ACCURACY. Hell, the stability buff was better suited for offsetting the nerfs to Aggressive Ballistics and Smart Drift Control..Anyway; Extended Mag becomes mediocre at this point giving you a whopping seven extra shots.
Fusion Rifles Increased Charge Speed on fast charging Fusion Rifles. Reduce burst damage to compensate Fusion rifles behave more predictably based on player state Reduced Hip Fire Stability for all fusions Increased ADS and Crouched Stability for all fusions Reduction in carried inventory for all fusion rifles 10% increase to PvE damage bonus to offset
Oh boy, a blanket nerf to Fusion Rifles with no compensation buff for the Vex Mythoclast. How can I describe this one..Well, this version pretty much forced you into Smart Drift Control just to have any form of controllable recoil, and even then it wasn't consistent enough for use outside of close range. Also, that reserve ammo nerf made using it frustrating as you ran out of ammo rather often..Especially with Send It.
Fusion Rifles Increased Stability base stat (40% recoil reduction); this means that lower stability Fusion Rifles will get affected more than higher stability rifles Fixed bug where some outlying fusion rifle scopes had unintended increased zoom that was removed in Year Two. Vex Mythoclast Reduced Damage base stat to compensate for improved Stability (by -13%)
Hooray, the Vex Mythoclast is going to be less mediocre with the stability buff! Especially for those who prefer to use Linear Compe-..Wait, a damage nerf? Why Bungie? You seemed OK with the Vex Mythoclast's damage before, but now this teensy stability buff to try to offset the previous nerf warrants a damage nerf? Well then, the damage values are about as good as when you guys "accidentally" overnerfed it back in October..And now it has all of these other issues from blanket nerfs..Yeah, the worst iteration of it yet for sure. We now have an auto rifle that has built-in inaccuracy like HandCannons, projectile travel time, and a time to kill that's best compared to the Doctrine of Passing..Which doesn't have any of the issues the Vex has. There's no point in using it anymore other than for kicks and giggles, or for trying to give yourself a challenge in the Crucible. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ rip in peace vex
