I honestly feel that those who don't want match making are saying so for selfish reasons.
Matchmaking is never a requirement. It is an option. Why would people really try and stop an option, that they themselves may not need to use? So others who don't have a regular 6 man fire team can't get into the raid? To force people to use external sites to find groups?
Sounds like people just trying to make the game less accessible to others for no reason at all. If match making was added, I would hardly use it. Maybe to fill an empty spot occasionally?

I am sorry but with current design, matchmaking is not an option. If there's a spot free it will try to fill it if possible. You can t tell it: my friend is changing to his Hunter ( or whatever) because we need him to run. Please don't fill his spot he'll come back. Also (and that's good in general but highly annoying if a random is afk) there's no kicking option In matchmaking activity. Except if they were in your ft before entering mm. Finally: cp and where you join. they need to think of a good way with those if there is to be raid matchmaking. Need that golg challenge? But always gets mm at daughters (those who just wanted challenge leave then... Meaning lots of free spots in those teams) And worse: you got that golg cp but get put after it: do you still have cp? Do you get most advanced cp?

Yes. And I would likely never use it and stick to preformed group with friends or lfg. ;-)

Every where a group is needed, and match making is available. Your options are fill the group on your own with people you know. Or use the matchmaking system. There is only 1 place i've seen where match making is a requirement, and that is the Freelance Crucible Event. Otherwise, you are always able to assemble a group on your own.

So what you're saying is I should have my choice to two man Crota, three or four man VoG with few buddies for fun taken away? Right?

Not exactly. I would personally like to see some changes to match making. Basically an on and off switch. But I would like to see it all the same. I'm willing to compromise, rather than just saying nay.

If matchmaking was truly optional via the selection menu I would have no problem with that. I personally miss when you could go into a strike solo if you wanted to. I just don't feel that people should be forced into matchmaking if they don't want it. There's been plenty of times were I and other groups (assuming) have opened the portal and done the ships on Kings Fall with a five man because their sixth couldn't join for 15 or 20 minutes rather than wait. With forced matchmaking this wouldn't be a possibility. Think of all the amazing feats others have accomplished, two manning hard VoG and soloing Crota back in the day. Or even since the taken King the solo Oryx runs. There are people out there that like to be able to challenge themselves and forced matchmaking makes all of these great accomplishments go away moving forward.
