Today I pose a question to you! How do you feel about raid matchmaking? Are we fine how we are now? Or would it be a great improvement?
LETS DEBATE:
Pro Matchmaking
Adding matchmaking to the raids will allow for more players to participate in them. No longer will you be forced to use an LFG site or recruitment threads if you don't have any friends online. Just launch the activity and Walla you are in a full fire team!
While some would argue that some people would get matched with lower light levels or just players who don't know what to do, this offers for players to teach others each encounter. This would add to the social aspect of the raids even more! And hey, if you still wanted to go on LFG, you can! Nobody is stopping you.
If you think the new raids would be too hard, that's okay. We could have matchmaking for VoG and CE but not Kings Fall, because those raids are much lower light level. That way newer players can run through those old raids for the first time much more easily, or old players can do the same just for fun. Problem Solved
Con Matchmaking
Matchmaking for raids is a terrible idea! This would lead to more frustration than ever. People with very low light levels, inexperienced players, people instantly leaving, players with no mic, these are the players you will be getting matched up with, and the list just goes on and on. Adding a matchmaking system is a waste of Bungies time. With half the player base on LFG and the other half raid matchmaking, wait times will be longer than ever. And when you finally do get a match, people could purposefully troll or go AFK with no one to kick them.
How do you expect checkpoints to work? If I have Golgoroth cp , will I only get matched with people at Golgoroth? If so, wait times will be even longer. If not, I might lose my checkpoint and miss out on the Golgoroth loot I still needed to get.
Getting through a strike with Randoms is hard enough, doing a raid with Randoms would be near impossible.
So what do you think? Should raid matchmaking be a thing or not? What other topics are worthy of a Debate?
EDIT: Wow, glad to see everyone voicing there opinions in the comments. This post has gotten more love than I expected. Fun to read these comments.

The only thing I see wrong with raids having MM is. If someone goes afk or decides to be a dickhole and ᖴuck around theirs no fireteam leader to kick that guy.
-
They should have levels of match making like based on how many times you have done it. Like Roookie Pro Super experienced
-
They should add them to dailies, nightfalls, etc first.
-
You decide You wanna spend 4 to 5 hours with a brain dead team ? Or Find good team tht completes it in an hour?
-
I like being able to choose the players that are in my raid team via lfg. If I try to matchmake into a raid, 9/10 times I'm gonna get at least one person who is either way under level or has no idea what they are doing. No thanks.
-
The Division has matchmaking for all activities. A discord server was set up by the community to match make. WoW added match making to raids, and had to dumb them down for match made teams. Match making doesn't solve the problem. What needs to be done is a means, in game, to build community.
-
Raid mm is fine but only if it doesn't cross over into non-mm raids.
-
There is nothing to debate. Optional mm for all activities. If I don't like it don't use it. If u do like it then use it.
-
Yes, OPTIONAL matchmaking is fine. I have my own team, but sometimes not everyone is online, and I want to be able to find a team quickly without worrying about LFG. And LFG is just as bad. It won't affect you if you already have a team, and the people who will use it know what they're getting into. We shouldn't have to go to third-party sites for something that can be done in-game.
-
Well I'm glad bungie already said they won't ever do it. I'm not worried. Match making for raids would be for the lazy. If anyone could finish a raid with a mm team would take a miracle and then some.
-
As long as it's optional, which unfortunately they don't have that option with any of their current activities.

Edited by Abrrinacave: 8/28/2016 3:40:47 PMHave two raids, side by side in the directory. One allows matchmaking, the other doesn't. If you launch into the one without, no one will be put into your group of there's an open a lot unless you invite them. If you launch into the one with, you'll be out with a full fireteam, checkpoint based off of where you were
so for example, for KF. Let's say hit matchmaker group got to golgoroth, and couldn't beat it. If you backed out and went back into matchmaking, it could put you at any checking from golgoroth or back. You might get war priest, or totems, or Golgorth, etc
Obviously getting the reward for a checkpoint in one will make it so you get the reward for both, so you can't run it twice on normal and get rewards each time

I say make it optional, but I can't fully understand how Matchmaking would really pan out. Between CP's and AFK and all that shit, I think there's gonna be more problems than solutions.
-
Should be optional... matchmakimg and solo optional for everything.
-
If it was an in game service, such as a matchmaking kiosk this would allow full control over it. You wouldn't be able to blag about your light level or whether there was a mic present. As people have said before this whole service is optional. Don't want it, simply don't use it.
-
Every activity in destiny should have OPTIONAL match making.
-
Optional. Literally ive never heard a good excuse against optional mm. Just parrots spouting what bungie says like good parrots.
-
Optional. Like a brothel. Create a profile that shows class/levels/completions. Maybe a small text box for particular equipment.
-
Optional, always optional. Especially the old defunct raids.
-
optional* that way people can solo it, play it with lfg, their friends (if they have any) with their dogs or with mm. no need to force mm on people who dont want to.
Getting through a strike with Randoms is hard enough
rarely to never see strikes with randoms that are hard. unless ofc. everyone is like 40 lights below the requirments. most of the time the people i get are ok or even good.
-
I've been saying that it'd be a bad idea. Making it optional wouldn't make it viable because once you have a bad experience...you won't use it again. Most can't even kill Thalnok. Imagine trying to kill Crota with a random. Especially with no health regen
-
It will be like in game voice chat people want it but it will never be used
-
Yeah it should be a thing. You can group up with your normal team and if you need one or two more....poof! Magic! HM shouldn't have matchmaking tho.
-
not at all communication is so important that you have to be able to talk to the others and if you do MM then there will be people who dont have a mic or are in a party chat with friends or don't even speek the same language as most of the team.
-
Should be completely optional. If players want to solo queue they should still be allowed to.
