Raid Matchmaking: THE DEBATE
Today I pose a question to you! How do you feel about raid matchmaking? Are we fine how we are now? Or would it be a great improvement?
LETS DEBATE:
[u]Pro Matchmaking[/u]
Adding matchmaking to the raids will allow for more players to participate in them. No longer will you be forced to use an LFG site or recruitment threads if you don't have any friends online. Just launch the activity and [i]Walla[/i] you are in a full fire team!
While some would argue that some people would get matched with lower light levels or just players who don't know what to do, this offers for players to teach others each encounter. This would add to the social aspect of the raids even more! And hey, if you still wanted to go on LFG, you can! Nobody is stopping you.
If you think the new raids would be too hard, that's okay. We could have matchmaking for VoG and CE but not Kings Fall, because those raids are much lower light level. That way newer players can run through those old raids for the first time much more easily, or old players can do the same just for fun. [i]Problem Solved[/i]
[u]Con Matchmaking[/u]
Matchmaking for raids is a terrible idea! This would lead to more frustration than ever. People with very low light levels, inexperienced players, people instantly leaving, players with no mic, these are the players you will be getting matched up with, and the list just goes on and on. Adding a matchmaking system is a waste of Bungies time. With half the player base on LFG and the other half raid matchmaking, wait times will be longer than ever. And when you finally do get a match, people could purposefully troll or go AFK with no one to kick them.
How do you expect checkpoints to work? If I have Golgoroth cp , will I only get matched with people at Golgoroth? If so, wait times will be even longer. If not, I might lose my checkpoint and miss out on the Golgoroth loot I still needed to get.
Getting through a strike with Randoms is hard enough, doing a raid with Randoms would be near impossible.

As long as it is "optional" matchmaking then there are no cons.

Maybe you could have Ikora talk you through Vault of Glass and give each person specific instructions what to do. Eris can help you with Crota's End. For King's Fall, Cayde and Eris. HOWEVER Challenge of Elders has NO excuse for no matchmaking. I did it with 2 LFG guys and we didn't use mic. Easiest thing freaking ever but gave me good gear.

1 ReplySo long as it's optional. If people really just want to have to scrabble everything together between people who don't know the raid and people with no mics, let then have a go at it. I'll stick with handpicking a team.

When the player base falls off a couple months after ROI has been out EVERYONE will be glad there is raid matchmaking. Provided they are still playing and haven't already moved on until D2 is released.

5 RepliesI don't understand why some people find it so hard to use lfg. I got 2 character to 335 using only lfg. (Third character is my Titan. He doesn't get much love). Even if your a noob post up, and plenty of people will help you out. Matchmaking sure won't get you through the raid. You'll have that one guy without a mic, the one taking a "quick" smoke, another chewing away at his chips, and the squeaker who yells at people for messing up when he was the one who messed up, and then the one dude in the raid who knows what he's doing.

I think old raids only, it would help those who know what they are doing but don't necessarily have a group to run with. Also, it would allow for those who don't have the crux (me :c) or the vex to get it for their collection

I feel better raiding with strangers that can at least make an effort to get a group together. It means they're seriously wanting to raid. Not saying that matchmaking wouldn't work, but I'd never use it. If you can't be bothered to take a few minutes and find a pick up group, I question your ability to even finish a raid

They need to make a mssg board in the tower. Similar to monster hunter and you post what u are looking for and requirements and people can join ya

As long as it's optional and doesn't affect the existing fireteam behavior in any way, then it's fine. I would never use it and I don't want any side effects to irritate me. One would be filling in dropped spots on the fireteam automatically as is done in the existing strikes.

It shouldn't be raid matchmaking, but it should be like in game lfg. It could be like a little rectangular that says "Recruit" and it show how many people are looking for a certain activity. Because if you just got randoms, it wouldn't really help you achieve what you wanted cause you still have to communicate with the members

And deal with AFKs? No thanks. LFG is good enough. What's so hard about looking up a website that can find people at your skill and get things done quick?

Yea but then you end up with guys bringing nothing but swords and shotguns its not hard to use lfg Set your requirements if you've never done wait for the Youtube videos watch them and then get some others who have never done them we all have to stumble at some point I have other obligations I don't want to spend 5 hours on a raid that can be completed in an hour or 2 Go to the endgame part of this app and you'll see there are tons of people doing kings fall all the time

This is an easy solution. Go to settings: - select raid matchmaking criteria - [X] optional Add vote to kick (4/6 needed)

The only thing I see wrong with raids having MM is. If someone goes afk or decides to be a dickhole and ᖴuck around theirs no fireteam leader to kick that guy.
