Legends speak of greatness. Stories told from ancient histories to weave a mythos worth remembering... We have become legend Guardians, but from which legends do we hail? The universe in which Destiny subsists still remains an intriguing unknown. Sure, we're given the Grimoire; a haphazardly composed collection of texts meant to tell a story. But the Grimoire's become cheapened, a now arbitrary measure of numerics that define who is "experienced". It is not and has never been enough. The histories of events foretold in times forgotten need to be given transparency. In a world where we face extinction, perpetrated by enemies of unknown origin, and fighting them with powers we don't understand, it can only be a just and fitting endeavor to deliver clarity in place of mystery. The esoteric nature Destiny has created cripples its very foundation. It causes me to suffer from a glaring level of disinterest that I try, but ultimately fail to forgive. I'm not greedy; I don't want to be told a tale of straight facts. Instead, giveth unto me an epic which offers discovery that yields revelation; A trickling of canon timelines for me to better understand your world. This alone is your game's biggest fault Bungie, whether or not you know it. In place of the antiquated Grimoire system, Destiny's lore can be divvied out through in-game systems; mayhap short pieces of cinema that detail historical events? Perhaps a narrated codex akin to Mass Effect? Or even just access to Grimoire in-game, tied into loading screens, menus, or possibly through some access point in the Tower? Any of these would strengthen your neglected storytelling experience. [b]TL;DR[/b] I know many Guardians couldn't care less about story relevance. I know even fewer care about what I have to say. But for my integrity, this is my most sincere feedback I have for Destiny: a request for better story. Deliver ingenious ways to tell us Destiny's history and lore. The Grimoire system has failed and the universe you've created is captivating. It's a shame you've neglected to appropriately give Destiny's lore its long awaited due, Bungie... I beseech thee: fix it.
