The Destiny vs. Halo F**king Rant (Answer the poll! Which game do you like better?)

Destiny

Halo

I'm going to curse a lot in this so if you're a kid or someone who isn't very fond of cursing I'd advise you to leave right now. Ok, so I want to get this off of my chest because a lot of people just piss me off when it comes to things like this. So, I hear a lot of people (including squeakers) tell me that Halo is better than Destiny and that Halo has many great elements to the game that makes it better than Destiny. So me being the huge Destiny fu**ing nerd that I am, I told them off. And I came here today to explain why Destiny #1: Isn't as bad of a game as people think; and #2: Why Destiny is in fact, a much better game than Halo is. Now, to start off I just want to say this: I do like Halo. I think Halo is a cool ass game in my opinion. But I also think that Destiny is much better. But anyways, let's talk about why Destiny isn't as bad of a game as people think. Well, a lot of people tend to steer away from Destiny because the game is "too ambitious." Well, I think it's about damn time someone came up with an MMORPG/Shooter mix. Not that it hasn't been done before, I mean there's probably one out there, but a really good one I mean. MMOs, RPGs, and Shooters are probably the 3 biggest game genres people look for when browsing for games, aside from MOBAs and such. Destiny also gets a ton of hate for being a typical "I have to save the fu**ing world by shooting shit" type of game. Well, if you wanna be that way I can name about five fu**ing shooters right now off of the top of my head that are the same way. And besides, shooters were always like that, really. It's just a matter of what you're looking for. Destiny is an all-around great game. It has the lore for those Skyrim guys like me, it has the shooting bad guys for the old school guys who just wanna get to the point, and it even has competitive play such as Trials and Iron Banner for those who like that. And it's even gonna have Private Matches soon, so you can school those shit-talking squeakers that always love to say they had sex with your mom. What more could you want? Now I know there are a crap ton of things that need to be fixed, (Deej the fu**ing loot system man have a team get on that A--FUC*ING-SAP!) but the game is still fun all-in-all, you have to admit. But enough ranting, let's get onto what really matters: Why Destiny is better than Halo. Now, I'm not gonna focus on the most recent failure put out by 343 -- fu**ing Halo 5... I SWEAR TO GOD IF THEY DON'T FIX THAT SHI-- *AHEM* ANYWAYS... I'm just gonna talk about Halo 4 and the games that came before that. Now keep in mind that Bungie made Halo CE-3 including Reach and ODST. So just remember that because that's gonna be a really important topic piece in this little rant of mine. Now getting into things, the lore of Halo's universe blows Destiny WAY out of this world, I'll give you that. But in terms of how fascinating the lore is and how the lore is incorporated into gameplay, I would say that Destiny does a better job. And before you Halo nerds come at me and start to tell me I'm dumb as all living shit, just hear me out. Because Halo's lore is extremely vast and is basically like Skyrim's lore on Forerunner drugs, the lore is too much to keep up with and has too many elements to incorporate into the game. That being said, since Destiny is a much, much smaller game than that of Halo's franchise, the creative designers of the game can easily import the game's lore into gameplay. Although some of the things they implement may be smaller things, or might not touch a lot on the lore or background behind it, they do a fairly well job at doing things such as implementing lore behind a gun, or behind the worms on the Dreadnaught. Some of them little things but some may be larger than others. So in terms of lore, Destiny beats Halo by a sliver. Now in terms of gameplay/story, I'm not gonna get too much into this because I haven't ever played Halo Reach's campaign, and I haven't played Halo 3: ODST's campaign in its entirety yet, so I can't touch on anything in terms of story. But what I can say about the general gameplay since I have played Halo Reach's multiplayer and Halo 3: ODST's campaign is that all-in-all Destiny slightly undermines Halo. Destiny does a way better job at incorporating elements you've never seen before, bringing you new content every time. For those of you punching your fu*king monitor right now and saying that Destiny is like any other game in terms of multiplayer, you're dumb as shit and probably live in your mom's basement. Destiny has added gametypes that frankly, we've never seen before. Trials of Osiris is one of them. And before you correct me and say that "we've seen elimination types before," let me stop you right there. Because the only thing that ever came CLOSE to elimination as a gametype is Search and Destroy and there's an objective in that gametype which is to plant the bomb or kill other enemies. So no we have NOT seen an Elimination gametype before Destiny created Trials. Firefight in Halo Reach was probably the funnest gametype in a Halo game to date. But if you really look at it, it's just another zombies gamemode variant, to be fair. There are small differences though, I'll give you that much. But all-in-all, Destiny knocks Halo out of the water with gameplay. Well, that's the rant. You Halo dweebs are lucky I didn't mention Halo 5, or your case would be -blam!-ing gone in minutes. Look, don't give me shit for this. I mean I am an unbiased figure in this dispute so just let me be me. If you guys don't agree with me, well... You're entitled to your opinion. I'm gonna drop a poll in this post so you guys can vote on which game you like more, so be sure to check that off real quick. But yeah guys, add me on XBL if you ever need an unreliable Trials partner. See you guys sometime in the future! (Tell me what rants you guys would like to see me do next because I'm definitely making more.)

  • I've never heard anyone use those arguments against Destiny. Most people dislike it because it had a lackluster excuse of a story, a bad rng system, laggy multiplayer, repetitive content, and huge parts of the game being cut out and resold. The only people who say that it was "too ambitious" are YouTubers who don't want to offend those who play Destiny.

    • You want to know how to tell Halo is better than Destiny? Nobody ever describes a halo as " it's not to bad".

Destiny? You're -blam!-ing kidding right? That shit gets so old so fast. How many times was I supposed to do the same raid over and over again? Vog? Fun the first 5 times maybe, CE? Beat it on both difficulties then only did it again for gear(the bullshit rng grind that is Destiny). Poe? Didn't even have to beat every difficulty to not want to do that again. Patrols were the best weren't they? On to the steaming pile of shit that is the crucible. Worst balanced fps Iv ever played. There's been a lot of dirty OP shit in games but I'm not exaggerating when I say that at the time I played Destiny roughly 75% of lobbys were bladedancer hunters. At least half of which would be using thorn or TLW. I couldn't count how many times I was in a lobby of people who used the exact same set up. Drove me -blam!-ing nuts. Iron banner and trials? Great let's make the 75% to 100% of people using the same shit. And How many times did they need to try to fix special ammo? On top of that they can't even use dedicated servers even tho by now everyone still playing from day 1 will be like $200 into one shitty game. The lag on top of an already shitty multiplayer makes Destiny pvp a fail. They couldn't even put their sad excuse for telling a story in game. Those cards were a terrible idea. Destiny was terribly executed. I only made it a month or two after How and only because I had got the season pass. Game sucks bro. Also you can't just say halo because halo is an entire series. A very successful series that revolutionized console first person shooter games and the competitive scene. So I'd have to say halo Edit: Also unless they changed it you can't even do a custom game with just friends in Destiny.

I had fun with Destiny, it has pretty good gunplay mechanics and raids were fun. Outside of that halo is just better in terms of multiplayer, balance, story(although destiny is quite young compared to halo so it's unfair to compare the stories just yet), and smoothness. I haven't played destiny in over a year, but I've been trying to get back into it for ROI. I still have hope for destiny, I don't let others influence my opinion on things so I'll play until it becomes stale just like I did when TTK dropped. But back to the topic, I pick halo. Great story, amazing multiplayer with a high replay value, good devs that listen, lots of content added frequently, I huge variety of weapons and vehicles to play with, and smooth mechanics. Best of all is balance in multiplayer, which I feel halo has done the best of any fps. There is no one or two guns that dominates every situation like you see in destiny and other fps games. Halo not only provides you with tons of different weapons, it makes you want to use them.

          • Halo's got a better story and more balanced gameplay while Destiny is a far more varied gaming experience and there are actual teamwork challenges in the game. Destiny is a Shooter Rpg while Halo is a Shooter. In destiny you can costuming your character how you want and in halo you can customize your character way less but in a more balanced way. They are comparable, but which one is better is up to you.

            1) Skyrims lore is not deep, nor is it explored very well in the game. 2) Elimination is nothing new. Gears of War has had execution and warzone as a staple since 2006. Saying that it's never been done before just shows how uninformed you are on the topic. This is probably a troll.

                  • Destiny's lore is not put into the gameplay. Dude, it's barely in the game. You have to go outside the game to read most of it. Also I would argue that Halo has much more balanced gameplay in every iteration of it.

                  • Destiny has better incorporated lore than Halo? Oh my God, that's histerical. I have yet to see Osiris, Saint-14, Toland, Savathun and Xul Arath (neither of which have even been mentioned in the game), any sort of Vex simulations, nor majority of the content in the lore. Hell, the famous story of Jaren Ward, Shin Malphur, and Dredgen Yor is only in flavor text of certain weapons. That's sad. Nothing in the lore is ever verbally mentioned; let alone shown. Halo, however, has done a better job. It has several elements that no one would understand without the lore. Lasky knowing Chief, Halsey having a strong relationship with Chief, why Cortana is basically naked, where the Arbiter went in Halo 4, who Blue Team and Noble Team are, why Buck is a Spartan in Halo 5 are just a few of the questions that the game doesn't answer but the lore does. Wait a minute, did you just tell me that NOT A SINGLE GAME has ever had an elimination gametype? The ignorance is strong with this one. Gears of War and Goldeneye are just two examples of games with elimination long before Destiny was even imagined. Destiny does not have a single unique game mode. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I'm just refuting your argument that Destiny has "game modes we've never seen before". So, no, Destiny does not have better multiplayer. If you want to believe that it has better gunplay than Halo, then that's your perogative. However, from a completely objective standpoint, Halo is far superior.

                    • Let's get a few things straight. 1. The story is almost non existent in destiny until the third dlc. Sure raids are fun, but that's not story. Halo obviously wins there. 2. You admitted that halo has vastly more amounts of lore and then somehow gave the point to destiny. Some of it is good, but it's a new ip, so halo wins the lore. (Check how many books or other materials there are on the matter.) Destiny loses this round. 3. Destiny has much more fluid gunplay. It's a lot of fun. It has many more features and different classes to choose from. Destiny wins in gameplay. 4. Art/design: Halo and destiny are both on par with each other when it comes to design. (Most likely because the same studio that made halo created destiny.) No winner there. Also elimination is not new. Many games have had it in the past decade or so. Just because you haven't played them doesn't make you right. It's ok to like destiny, but wait until you're games story and lore is actually better to make this comparison. Maybe destiny 2 will be better. (Who knows) Sincerely, Not a halo fanboy, or destiny hater
