Something needs to be done about the moderation.

Since the 2013 update, the Moderation shifted from a strict system to a 'moderate your own experience' focus. I assume the original plan was to remove ninjas altogether in favour of the Mute button, but we all know that fell through with the Charlie drama, and the website practically became the old West. There were several incidents of Porn threads being left up for 2 weeks, and the Code of Conduct meant that the poster would get off with a warning if a Moderator couldn't find another post that could be justified as Spam. It was an even worse state on the PMs (which has since been addressed but was terrible up until late 2015). Shockposters were able to send gore images en masse without consequence as the mute button didn't affect Personal Messages, and a user being personally harassed was banned and muted by our noble community manager (before Cozmo's time) for simply bringing the issue up. Bravo. Anywho, for the most part, the Destiny subforum looks to be pretty reasonably moderated currently, misposts are moved quickly to their relevant area and violations are dealt with in good time. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the rest of the site which seems to have been overlooked. I assume the webteam stopped caring about it because of the toxic nature of the community over the past 15 years, but the last 5 major site updates just haven't made sense, especially the one where you need to have played Destiny to make a post in the Halo PC and Marathon tags. Back on topic, the moderation in #Offtopic and #Gaming has been lackluster at best, with little discernible improvement between 2014 and now. Nothing was done about Blackbox, Kiyo or Comms Officer during their time, and the Brony and Proboards site dramas that leaked into the Offtopic forums were completely ignored. The Destiny misposts in #Gaming haven't been addressed in 2 years (inb4 'le destiny app so post where i want xDDDD' meme/'I can't believe you care about this issue' cookiecutter response that has no discussion value whatsoever). I know the Moderators are capable of moving posts, because they still browse that subforum religiously looking for threads directing said misposts, to move to #Bungie or #Community. The Frank Woods display was the single most unprofessional act in the history of Bungie, and it really shows how far they've fallen. Urk would never have allowed things to get out of hand like this. My last point is the state of #Offtopic currently. Now, this place was always a septic tank, even during the carpet banning days. But since political and religious discussion has become fair game it has become a whole new level of bad, not seen since even the Zanzibar days. Every single thread is some bad attempt at inflammatory discussion through simulating political/religious extremism and somehow people are responding to these shitposts and it needs to stop. The community is simply not mature enough to handle such discussion and such threads have been the core of Offtopic's discussion for nearly 2 years, now. A simple update to the code of conduct and moderation guidelines (and maybe a few more Ninjas/Mentors who feel like babysitting this braindead community) would help immensely. I appreciate that the days of Disembodied Soul rolling heads left and right are over, but a stricter hand still needs to be taken with this community. Every time this issue has been brought up in the past it gets a lot of support, then some site staff jump on the thread belittling the OP like some out of line child, saying the issue is being looked at and getting 5,000 upvotes and a wave of support from people who have no idea what is going on but want some form of approval from a person with a nameplate. Then 6 months pass and nothing changes, so the cycle just repeats itself. I'd rather it doesn't keep getting swept under the carpet ad infinitum. TL;DR: Read the title for a summary. Sorry for the massive wall and the off topic stuff, I really wanted to cover my (and every other user who has since retreated to private groups/offsites) issues with the site's ToS and whatnot.
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to #Feedback forum so that other Destiny players can weigh in. See Cozmo's thread for more information about the #Feedback tag and its uses. Feel free to private message the moderator who moved your post, link to topic for further clarification about why this topic was moved.
• I'll ask our team to try to be more vigilant with moving Destiny posts out of #Gaming. The Religion/Politics suggestion is something to consider, though I have not seen a huge outcry with posts containing 5000 upvotes like you said above. Thanks for the feedback.
