I found out today that there's only 5 languages to decipher. I won't lie, that bugs me.
I reckon it will get roughly 8/10. But even Destiny got 9's and 10's.

Edited by Watcher1905: 8/4/2016 8:46:40 PMConsidering they said that you'd learn them word by word, that might be a good thing. It might take hours to learn enough words to make some sense of 1 language. If the next planet would just have a different language, i wouldn't even bother. The game wants you to travel from planet to planet. That also would mean that if there were so many more languages, you'd never get to learn any.
-
Nah, not just planet to planet. Just more than 5 in the entire universe.
-
Don't know. Consider how it'd take to learn them. Wouldn't want to be in a new region and completely start over again every few hours. Do get your point though. 5 total sounds a bit low. Maybe that's to do with how many factions there are?
-
Assuming you want to learn them. If their predictions are correct, there would be loads of languages you didn't manage to even discover, let alone learn. Like I said, it's not a hype killer or anything, just a bit of a shame.
-
While having many languages sounds cool (and more realistic), i'd probably very much hate it gameplay wise. Probably the reason.
-
If there is only five then one or two must be super hard to learn.
-
Apparently one is very hard, and they say the community will need to come together to decipher it... But eh... I don't see it happening like they planned. Devs always make the mistake of under-estimating gamers like this. Whether it be difficulty, length, or resource gathering. Still, 5 languages across the universe... I mean, I get that it's a small studio, but there's two different languages on just my small island. To some it might be cool, but I don't like the idea of discovering the same language after travelling hundreds upon hundreds of planets in one direction.
-
If this is based off of what the dude who beat it in 30 hours said, that's really not enough time to learn every secret of this game. Maybe there's more, unless there's other proof I haven't seen
-
I read those were the words of the devs. I mean, there's two languages just in my country.
-
I'd love to see a link of Sean Murray saying this.
-
Which part?
-
About Sean saying there was only 5 languages in the final version of the game. I've yet to see him state that as a fact and I'm curious to were you are getting this from.
-
I'm sure you would. I've yet to see it myself, but I haven't been looking. Just what I read on a NMS forum somewhere. 5 languages with one being very hard to decipher. This guy was pretty excited for both this, and the game, so I didn't brush it off as a troll post and took his word for it.
-
So because he was excited and "not trolling" according to you that confirms it to be said by the devs? Not sure I understand your reasoning here. Not saying it's false but considering thats your evidence to the claims, you don't really have anything at all to support them.
-
No. But it makes me wonder why he'd lie about such a little number. I'm not all that jumped up about this game, so I'm just listening mostly to what people say and catching tidbits of news where I see it.
-
Well, to be fair, Shaun Murray has kinda skirted around things like that, but so be it it it is. There's gotta be other things to do in the game.
-
*Sean Murray. Bugs me when ppl spell my name wrong (I'm not Sean Murray lol, but we spell our first name the same way)
-
It's not a total hype killer, but it will bug me I travel across millions of planets and come across the same language and dialect.
