Let me preface by saying I could care less about snipers in the current state. They can stay the same or change BUT...
So we tend to bitch about them alot right? Like we do everything but in general I feel like these guys get the most salt as they can be used in the right hands at even close range.
But what if in Destiny 2 they changed them a bit?
What if they invented a sci-fi sniper on the level of fusions that when shot, the bullet actually warps a certain distance (dependent on range stat) before it appeared to hit your target? It wouldnt be hitscan, and the distance warped would be how far long or short your range stat was. Probably the higher the range the lower the warp so you have to balance stability with range effectively
Why? This allows for the same sniper functionality without you being able to use it as a shotgun. HOWEVER, it opens up a higher skill ceiling by knowing your positioning to a T to land skill shots through walls. Enemy far away and runs behind cover before you could get him? Oh wait you're in the spot your bullet would teleport behind that wall? Gottem.
In most regular sniper scenarios it would all be the same, just as long as you arent using it close to mid range. They would warp just a noticable bit and hit your target all the same. Hell this could even erase some bullet trail making it harder for people to figure out where that shot came from.
Thoughts?
Visual example
(Sniper)< (warping here) -------
Sniper being the gun, arrow being the gun fired, dashes being where it warps into existence
So if bullets warp/teleport a fixed distance based on range stat (say 47 for arguments sake) which equals x meters (say 47 to make it easy) Would that mean the bullet "doesn't exist" before or after this point? So the target needs to be at exactly 47 meters in this scenario? Which would mean that if I increase or decrease the distance between me and the sniper, he would always miss.
