This is happening with me right now!

july 30th? are you guys really working on this or just blowing smoke, this is still a reoccuring issue..the destiny community is trash, so alot of people including myself would rather play with someone we actually know. spouse, children,siblings,parents...this is trash bungie, have you completely given up or what? i hear this game is suppose to go like 10 years as a franchize, good luck with that.. you guys cant even manage to keep your supporters happy, way to fail completely...

I have the same problem. Started today :/ worked fine a couple of days ago. Fix.

This is a repost since there has been no communication to the community regarding this issue in over 2 and a half months. It looks increasingly likely that we won't get any action for a quarter of a year, and potentially ever. This issue has made myself and my partner stop playing the game. If Bungie wants to keep customers like ourselves happy then either communicate about the issues or rollback to a previous version of the network engine. I would dearly love to continue to dump my money into this game if it worked. Other titles such as Titanfall don't have these issues, so why should I play Destiny when there are other games that work as designed? My faith is waning, I am becoming jaded with Destiny, please prove me wrong. Git repositories exist for a reason. Code should be separated into their functions, i.e. Network, character, weapons, armour etc. Just rollback the network component when you know there is an issue affecting playability for people. All you need to do is check your data to see who is no longer playing. So my Fianceé and myself have loved Destiny and have become addicted to it, however since the announcement of RISE OF IRON we are unable to join each others fireteam, we have resorted to usual power cycling, troubleshooting and heck even reinstalling the games on both consoles. Now I am a mathematician not a network engineer but having two xBox Ones next to each other located on the same network and unable to join each other in an activity for several weeks in a row doesn't seem right. I understand the way you guys have set up the way we communicate within the world of destiny to be something unique but instances like this should've been accounted for, especially for PvP (don't get me started about the lag in the crucible which allows so many people to have an instant edge against others... not BIASED at all! -sarcasm if you couldn't tell-). Now to have this seemingly trivial issue of two Xbox Ones on the same network playing a game we paid double for in order to play together, not come to fruition has turned us away from the game. Suggestion to Bungie would be to fix this issue, inform the community of expected time frame or at least give transparency to what is occurring, no matter how embarrassing the cause is, and to give myself and my partner a free pre ordered copy of RISE OF IRON for our troubles, and heck everyone that is having this issue as it seems ridiculous that the only way people can play the game is through others, and not all of us can interact with certain people, alas making your coding/infrastructure/game incomplete and unreliable as a product. A big thank you to whoever actually reads this post, but a bigger thank you to whomever it is that acts upon this post. The way this post is handled will ultimately determine if my partner and myself will play and spend money on not only destiny but anything that is produced by Bungie in the future, so Bungie your name as a developer is on the line here. Just as a side note, I do believe that my writing within this post fulfils the code of conduct and so shouldn't be censored. This post is a part of my own intellectual property and any censorship will be regarded as suppression of speech which all people have a right for.

There seem to be no word on what's going on (that I've seen) other than this 'investigation' that was published on July 31st. It is now the 13th of September and there is still no word on what's going wrong. It is not my Internet, it is not my Xbox. It is YOUR game.

I bought 3 Xbox's to play with my sons. Last night I let my youngest stay up late to "play" destiny. He was so thrilled. We spent over an hour and a half resetting, rebooting, reconnecting. "Unable to join target player" Finally, he said, Dad it's already late and I have to get up early. Sorry, son. He hung his head and went to bed. Come on, Bungie. ... ... Note: Overwatch just works everytime. But, we are still excited for Rise of Iron, so help us out.

We are also having this problem. It stared some time ago after an update. Prior to that we had two wifi and one LAN which worked fine, then we started having problems and we had two LAN and one wifi which worked after lots of faffing and resetting. Now that isn't working either. It's very very frustrating. We have fast fibre broadband, tons and tons of bandwidth and 2 separate routers we can connect to. The whole idea is for myself and my 2 daughters to play together. Awesome fun when it works. Very disappointing when it doesn't. Hope this gets sorted soon.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the last update with Rise of Iron stuff in it for getting ready for launch. (at least for me) Had no problem at my house, we have 2 PS4's and I have been playing with my son the whole time...latest patch downloads now we can't join each others fire team. One PS4 is ethernet cable and other is wireless. Our NAT type is 2. not getting any NAT errors in Destiny either. COD and other games connect our two consoles no problem. I love destiny but I will play other stuff and not sink anymore friggin money into Destiny until they fix this issue.....

If you're aware over a month ago why hasn't this issue been resolved?? Kind of becoming comical at this point but for real fix your shit Bungie.

Same problem here. Both have Lan connections and can't play together. This really blows, Bungie please fix this by ROI release!

I have been a player since day one poured 100's of hrs into game and also pre-ordered rise of iron. Then finally convinced my daughter to purchase collectors pack with everything including rise of iron pre-order yesterday. We are on same network, I am hardwired she is WiFi. We have tried all suggestions to fix this problem all day but too no avail "you cannot connect to target player, please try again later". She agreed to purchase the game as long as I can help her level up, however not happening anytime soon. We both own COD, The Division, and other multiplayer games and have no issue joining the same fire team, so is this a bungee issue? probably considering others with the same issue. How ironic having taken a break from destiny for 6-8weeks because of work commitments, come back and recommend destiny to my daughter and can't join fire team together? Was hyped for Rise of Iron, not so much now!!! Please fix this bungie.

Sucks my husband and I just tried to play for the first time in months, and couldn't even do it. What in the world Bungie? How is this even a thing ???

@BNGHelp4 Do you have any update on this issue yet..? It seems like many people are experiencing this issue.....It is great that you are investigating the issue, but it needs to be resolved.

@BNGHelp4 Similar problems here, we've tried every combination of wired connection and wireless connection on both xbox one consoles, co-op on other games works flawlessly so we know it's not our connection. Really hope its fixed before RoI. Thank you for the communication though!

Is this still an issue I haven't been able to join any game when my son is in the fireteam? We are on the same network he is hardwired and I am on wifi.

My family is having the same issue -- we have two Xbox Ones and cannot play in the same fire team. :-/ This has been going on for several weeks now. Please fix this.

@BNGHelp4, Same here can't join my son anymore and was able to a week ago but now no luck. This really sucks as he is now able to play with me and can't. At least give us some sort of feedback other than your response " We are aware of player reports on this issue and are currently investigating. Thank you for your report." This is crap. Pre ordered rise of iron so we could play together and now it looks like we won't be able to as we have no clue to when this is going to be fixed. Hopefully I can get a refund if this doesn't work.

This started for me and my wife aswell... on friday we were on the same fireteam, but on satturday we could not join eachother. We were playing on WiFi. Today i put cables up and plugged it in to the ps4. Still not able to join my wife. We are able to join others tho... Please fix This bungie.

Three weeks with absolutely no response seems legit. I know clients of my company would totally respect those sort of turnaround times. Anything more than an "it's on someone's ticket list, don't worry they totally aren't on vacation for 3 weeks" response?

Has this issue been resolved yet? Stopped playing awhile back because of this then decided to play again with my husband. Played for only 2 days and as soon as we bought the expansion started having issues again. If we can play together then we should get refunded for this!!!!

I also have the same issue. NAT 2 on both connections in the house. Restarted router. Restarted PlayStations. Repeatedly tried to reconnect. I cannot join my sons group and he cannot join mine. We cannot both join an external party at the same time. Please escalate this issue.

I'm having the same issue with me an my mom playing an has been going on for well over 6weeks we haven't been able to play together. Is this fix for this issue happening soon ?

Joined up because we are having the same issue, followed the support you have for networking and everything should be good for us to play together but still getting 'unable to join target player'. Please fix this soon we can play other games together but not this one :/
