Would love to use the firefly perk without worrying my game will crash

I'm primarily a PVE player and I personally love the firefly perk for PVE. I feel like it is one of the most fun and effective perks you can have on a weapon, especially a primary weapon. I virtually never unequipped Fatebringer in year 1 because the synergy of outlaw and firefly both occurring on a precision kill was glorious. Shortly after update 2.0 released way back in September 2015, reports started surfacing of Destiny crashing due to firefly explosions. Months later, a game update was supposed to fix the issue, but the issue can still occur. To Bungie's credit, that update did lower the frequency at which the issue would cause the game to crash, but it did not resolve the issue permanently. Here we sit now, over 10 months after 2.0, and firefly can still crash Destiny. Another game update has come and gone, and the issue is still not fixed. Bungie posted a help article on the issue in January 2016 acknowledging the issue, and their recommendation was to not use guns that cause the crash until Bungie fixes the issue. So when is Bungie going to fix the issue so I can use firefly again without worry? Not only that, but boycotting firefly still can't keep you 100% safe, as a teammate using firefly can crash YOUR game if he gets firefly explosions to occur near your character. Just seven days ago, I crashed two teammates using my Hung Jury in the middle of Golgoroth challenge, forcing us to wipe and restart the encounter.

It's happened to me with my imago and vanity (twice). All of them have happened in the last 2-3 months and I've used FF perk since launch. I don't know why it's been happening so frequently to me. The firefly procs and then I hear a grinding in the speakers, like a digital overload, which I guess is what it is. I too thought it only happened to other people but it's becoming more common for me when I play. It always gives me a tiny signal before hand, like the sound will start to get grindy when it procs, but it won't result in a freeze. Last time it happened I kept playing and a few more kills later, boom, I'm out.
