Patrol mode, whether you like it or not, consists of a significant portion of the game, and yet unsurprisingly, with an exception to the Dreadnaught, there's little to do in these areas, and there is even smaller reason to participate in Patrol Beacon Missions. Here's a list of suggestions that'll hopefully rejuvenate one of the most pointless aspects of the game since its conception: Hard mode I propose introducing a 'Hard mode' to all patrol modes, which will change a few aspects of the gameplay. You will have to pay fifty of the corresponding material to gain temporary access to the Hard-mode Patrol, and this payment will be lost once made. You will also require a much higher light level to access Hard-mode Patrol, among various other requirements. Core environment changes -Enemies are far stronger, more prevalent, and spawn inside of the safe areas between locations -Stronger enemies will spawn in place of weaker ones (i.e. Knights instead of Acolytes, Captains instead of Dregs etc.) -Enemies will actually be a threat, and if you go into a fight unprepared then they will kill you -Majors spawn more frequently -Recommended light level is set to 5 light levels below the cap for Moon, Earth and Venus. -Recommended light level is set to the cap for Earth (RoI edition), Dreadnaught and Mars. -Certain areas will be inaccessible, primarily areas of little interest, necessity or threat -Ammo will be more scarce, forcing you to rely on low-key survival tactics for certain objectives -Materials farmed will be in far larger number -Chest loot will be far more rewarding, with a chance of receiving Legendary and Exotic items (0.5%) -Hard Mode Patrol will be host to a handful of exclusive shaders, Exotic items and Sparrows -Hard Mode Patrol will be host to various Quest-lines, primarily Exotic Quests -Roaming bosses will occasionally spawn on their own in certain areas (Such as the Year one strike bosses in their respective habitats, or the Year two Taken Event bosses and Boss Patrol objectives) -Events will be more prevalent, and Hard-mode will be home to some exclusive Events -Bosses will scale in difficulty depending on the number of players present Core gameplay changes -Players cannot be revived -Death causes you to respawn at the spawn point of the patrol, and any current objectives will be lost -Death results in a 'Lost to darkness' screen, similar to when you die in a Raid -Missions are more difficult, but will be heavily rewarding -Can receive Legendary equipment from Missions -Can receive Exotic equipment, Legendary Relics, and Sparrows from Boss Missions and Taken Events -Guardians will receive more damage and deal less damage (As expected from a higher light level difficulty) -Sparrows will take more damage, will break more easily, and will run out of fuel faster (As to reduce their usage during escapes and travelling to locations with ease) -Sparrows will have a one minute respawn delay -Two active modifiers will be fixed to Hard Patrol mode each week (i.e. Arc burn and Juggler) Requirements -You must have unlocked access to the area before you can patrol it -You must be of at least the corresponding light level to access the Hard-mode Patrol -You must make a payment of fifty of the corresponding material to gain temporary access to a particular Patrol. Said payment will be permanently lost once made. Notable rewards and incentives -Exclusive Sparrows, Exotic items and cosmetics (Upon completing events and boss objectives) -Additional materials per source. The base multiplier will be 1.5x, however will increase every 15 minutes that you're in a particular region of the map and are completing missions and/or are killing enemies (Capped at 4x). This multiplier will instantly reset upon death. -Additional loot per chest. This includes but is not limited to: More glimmer, Rare gear, Legendary gear, Exotic gear, Exotic Shards, Strange coins, corresponding materials in larger quantities (i.e. Relic iron on Mars), exclusive shaders, exclusive ship blueprints, exclusive sparrow components. The more valuable an item is deemed, such as the exclusive items or Exotic gear, the rarer it will be to receive. -Boss Patrol objectives will be more common, and although they'll be more difficult to defeat, they'll warrant more loot -Boss Patrol objectives will now request that you kill a Year one strike boss in their respective location -Killing roaming Strike bosses will entitle you to a greater chance of receiving their specific drops (i.e. Grasp of Malok from screaming wizard Omnigul) What are your opinions on this new gamemode concept? Do you like / Dislike it? If so, why, and what would make it sound more appealing to you? Would you play this gamemode, and do you think it's difficult enough to warrant the loot that it entitles you to? Feel free to add your own thoughts and suggestions to this concept :)

 • So you must have run the raid in order to hard mode patrol the Dreadnaught? If that's what you're driving at, not a fan. There are solo players out there who will never raid. Seems odd to lock them out of patrols. Sound to me what you are trying to do is force fire teams for patrol. Not a fan of that, either. I'll be honest, it all sounds pretty tedious to me. I do like you suggest better rewards for such patrols, and I might be interested in trying, but most times I patrol to relax. Now I'm sure you'll say this is hard mode, go play easy mode. I'm of the opinion both wouldn't be supported - it becomes one or the other.
