Is Sunsinger bugged or is this nonsense what they intended?

Currently Sunsingers are almost unplayable. If I'm not mistaken anything hit by a burn effect takes [i]less[/i] damage from other sources while burning. This can be avoided by using Fusion grenades but anything hit with your charged melee is going to burn regardless of perks. Even assuming it's not bugged: - Viking Funeral debuff effect is weak even when triple stacked, and only lasts a few seconds tops - burn damage is 4 per tick, netting a total of ~20 damage - Firebolt has no use anymore. It's simply a weak grenade and even easier to dodge now. - Solar grenades are 100% worthless without exotic assistance from Sunbreakers, and even then ticks of 4 aren't compelling enough to deter players. People run through them willy nilly. Try that with Lightning or Tripmine. So in summary: - Only grenade is sticky - Only viable middle column perk is to make our useless super last longer - Only end column perk is an extra sticky - Only Super perk is buff for teammates - Only melee is [b]still[/b] overshield, but with delay only helps half the time What do we have left? What on Earth is this subclass good for? It is now awful in PvP and PvE alike. The fact that (to my recollection) Bungie hasn't mentioned that the burn is bugged is deeply distressing as that implies it's working as they intended, ergo completely ineffectual. I need to know if a fix is coming or if as it stands Sunsinger is dead. Edit: Someone linked me to a post where just a few days ago Cozmo acknowledges that the burn damage is indeed bugged and being investigated. There is hope yet.

  • Agreed, except I really enjoy Angel of Light as my last column. The last column basically is a waste though if you have sunbreakers or starfire protocol and don't like Angel of Light. The only thing I use sunsinger for anymore is to absorb hits from Oryx so he doesn't kill my teammates. Sunsinger is truly only good for the fireborn crutch now. I used to use it as a DPS class with radiant skin. It never was a support class, but now it's nothing. It serves no role but to aid people who can't stay alive.

  • Warlock: *uses radiance and fills a small room with 8-10 solar grenades* Enemies: *run in small room, start a dance party and then run out barely damaged*

    • They really just need to extend the duration of the solar grenade. They can't increase the damage or with radiance active you'd be able to nuke the world. IMO, the only applicable buff is to increase the duration...If someone can't get out of the grenade they deserve to die.

      • I've been running claws and double fusion. I've been wrecking house latley in IB, paired w the tlaloc, it's very good. Don't even use ur super until the last 10 kills or so an surprise res to get a couple extra kills or seal the game. While ur super is charging use the mida or whatever, then switch when ur supers ready. It's prolly my main class an set up. If anyone gets mad at the setup they r just noobs, they nerfed us once but never again. Get gudd scrubs.

        • Do what Hunters do when Bungie nerfs subclass abilities - adapt or use something else. All I hear from the scrublocks is VF/Firebolts are ruined and Destiny sucks now. No you suck. Learn to use other nades and perks... let go of your crutch and see if you can still stand up. If you can't, you're a true scrublock. If you can, you're a Warlock worth your salt. [spoiler]I run Voidwalker on my Warlock for the most part. I'll run Sunsinger today so the Scrublocks can see a build that doesn't rely on VF/firebolts.[/spoiler]

          • I honestly never used firebolts unless I was doing a mission with a ton of thralls or if I was playing double. That's why a never noticed it anyways. Two firebolts is normally a one hit KO

            Idk. I'm aweful at pvp, and I still use Sunsinger, it's even what I got the top overall score bounty with. It's not useless, you just have to actually try now. In control, fusions are good, but solars are better, with the sunbreakers. Throw a nade on a zone to keep people off till a teammate can come back you up. Or go radiance to clear out a bunch of people on a zone, or coming through a corridor. Solar wind melee will push people back, kinda helpful for shotguns (not much though). But more importantly, get the melee charge back quicker. Radiant skin to help with damage (don't need firebordn, this isn't trials). Some of Flame is decent if your in a team, and you can stick together when you Super.. You can go with radiant will, for the length, or sunburst, it's only 1 orb, but likely you'll be killing a fair amount of people with melee if your not sniping, and with brimstone or solar wind with a strength build, you'll get it quite quickly. I still use touch of Flame, it's good on the solar nades, and the extra one is useless since I use sunbreakers. And I'm no good with angel of Light. Some people are though, so I don't discount it. Tl:dr Just because you can't throw down a Firebolt and hit someone once with an auto rifle and count them dead anymore, doesn't mean the subclass is uselss.

          • I just ranked up all 3 of my characters to rank 5 solo in IB and not one match did I see or get killed by a Sunsinger ( was a hella lot of matches ) Just thought I'd add that.

              • It's broken and bugged. I feel the same distress you do. The fact they won't acknowledge it makes me doubt the leadership or care for the players and game. It's not what they did it's how they handled it. There is more bugs and flaws than you mentioned but here is what I do. Fusion/burst/brimstone/Radiant Skin/sunburst/gift of sun Depending on game mode I adjust but this is pretty much it. Gear I use Claws with melee charge. And a melee relic for orbs. Full armor regeneration for most things and 3/5/3 tier build. I have about 6 shotguns types and switch for occasion. Now when you see red on radar throw fusion grenade. I try and save one incase I'm losing an exchange and trade. I just shotgun then melee everything that moves. I make orbs for allies and enemies try to stay away. Once they get stickied and rushed they start to back away when they see me. I try to ambush them at doorways or double jump around a corner and attack down. Super melee makes 2 orbs and I can tank very well. Very different but we don't have many choices. I am a noob for sure but add me and we can play doubles =) I have a Montage (Old vs New) it shows more. This is early learning shotgun charge. I am pretty good now =)

              • Sounds like the treatment Gunslingers got... Adapt and overcome. Use fusion grenades. Try solar wind - this perk used to be the best. I could smack you at the speakers desk and put you in the Cosmodrome. Nerfs ended that fun.

                      • Something happened to Warlocks in general. I did 2 Nova bombs last night that went right through 2 people, only doing 12 and 2 damage on one of them, and then, on the 2nd, the guy didn't even take a single piece of damage. Also, in between, I got hit by a Nova bomb myself, at a 90 angle from the guy throwing, across the room. I watched him throw it. I had a side view, movie style. Recorded them all 3. Send me your PSN and i can send you the vids. All my arc grenades, landing on an enemies feet, avg 25% of his shield taken away. And then they run off. Warlock is Super Bugged right now. And i have the vids to prove it all.

                      • I was destroying as a Sunsinger in Iron Banner last night. Never went negative in any matches to my recollection and regularly scored 3,000+. Sunsingers are still alive and well

                          Because every warlock and their mother used Sunsinger with the exact same perks/nades. They looked at the raw stats of how many people used Viking funeral/firebolt and decided it needed a change. Pretty simple. Same happened with tripmine grenades, in which more tripmine grenade kills occurred over the passed year compared to firebolts. I used sunsinger a lot too, but I always hated firebolts. Always mained voidfang and fusions, so the nerf largely doesn't apply to me. Try them fusions out. Pretty dang fun with voidfang/gift of the sun. [spoiler]not saying you never used fusions, just saying that with the right play style sunsinger is still pretty strong[/spoiler]

                          • Voidwalker is amazing and if your not good at using grenades you got a back up firebolt named axion bolt that will make them run longer then firebolts ever did seriously tho warlock still need a melee range nerf it is redicoulse they should be equal
