...in the lower skill tier lobbies. Absolutely none.
This morning I played about 2 hours of Iron Banner with a friend and his kids. I dominated the games because these players were pretty terrible in comparison to those in my normal lobbies. (Check my warlock for proof)
But aside from that, a reality set in. NONE of those matches had lag. Not a one. Every headshot registered. Every melee procd. Every super destroyed. I saw a total of ONE red bar the entire time and they did poorly.
Now I have no clue why this is the case. But it is clear to me that it is deliberate. If I had to guess I'd say that the new and casual players get the best servers in order to make their experience better. Or maybe they're just not cheating. No clue. But I wish my lobbies were like these.

Gaming - old
There are more lower skilled players than higher skilled ones, so there is a MUCH better chance the people you're playing against are close to you when you're playing in a lower skilled lobby. -
Edited by sneakybrick: 7/3/2016 10:08:54 PMIt's called peer to peer hosting. With skill based matchmaking the connection is best the closer you are to average skill level because it is more likely for you to be match with people close to your location.
-
My stats would see a very quick 50% buff if matchmaking was connection based. There are less people in my region that are my skill level, so i'm often matched with overseas or south american high skilled players instead. Because the account you where on had poor stats overall, it was easier to find other players in your region with similar "skill levels" aka total meat shields. Hence the lobbies rarely lagged.
-
Edited by KWasmund11: 7/4/2016 5:33:32 AMIt was because of skill-based matchmaking. Your team's average skill/stats were lower than your personal skill/stats. Because of this, you were matched up against comparable skill/stats and there are many more poor/average players than anything else, which increased your odds of being matched against people who were closer to you and/or people who had similar connections to you. On a related note, holy 90 days of playtime! That's dedication!

People use lag as an excuse for getting beat by better players. Lag exist tho, just not as much as people say.
-
It's amazing how first place is always red barring.
-
Edited by cynicalpsycho: 7/3/2016 8:31:48 PMA high school potato battery experiment is not a server.... Bungie has yet to realise this.
-
The higher the player rating the lower the population, and the longer distance between connections. Probably also fewer lag switchers with low player ratings.
-
Just do what i do get a friend who sucks and has crap kd and make him party leader . I had 2 straight matchs of 30 plus kills . And the other matchs were at least 20 plus kills. Give it a go
-
Edited by jnikoley: 7/3/2016 10:44:40 PMLook at my games on my warlock beginning at 9:43pm CDT on 2Jul until around 1am on 3Jul. Look at the games before that time. Whats different? I did a lot better, and there was hardly any lag. I joined a friend with a .8 k/d. Coincedence? Perhaps, but my friend was also scoring high in those lobbies compared to when I'm the party leader.
-
It's simple. The higher your skill the smaller the pool of similar skilled players there is to draw from, so there's a higher chance you'll get a few from the other side of the world. Lower skilled players will have a much larger pool to draw from so there is more chance of getting matched with local players.
-
Then you are still in the lobby my friend!
-
So what you're saying is, higher "skilled" lobbies are actually full of cheaters & lag switchers manipulating their connections?
-
0.8 noob here... can confirm lag in pvp there is lag in pve too
-
Bungie does not provide servers for matchmaking. They provide servers for our equipment storage. The most consistent lag occurs when people play during peak hours in their time zone, have network congestion within their own household, or simply have a bad connection. Lag is user error. And that is why P2P gaming is an archaic, cheap alternative to force on users.
-
Mmm there was the maintenance so that why a lot of the issue went away. I deff agree that there are a ton of pve players in the IB. I was a lmost not even playing and I was team top players for many games or at least the majority of the round. My team would be behind every game by 2-3 k points cause they kept loosing their gun fights. I would kill everything or trade every time.
-
Wow... a 1kd player claiming to be good enough that sbmm makes their lobbies laggy... I've seen it all now.
-
Actually the lag works both ways. If you have a 2.0 KD the game will have a hard time finding people in the same skill level and are close to you location wise since 2.0 KD isn't common and you will find people in a different country to play against.(thats why games lag) The same will happen if you have a 0.02 KD.
-
Told you..I am very rare to have the lag. Because I just close to average low
-
I get what your trying to say and I wouldn't put it past bungie to do that. I mean the connection bars now are flickering now, one minute everyone is dead red then next minute everyone is fully green. Red, green, red, green, red, green, yeeeeelllllowww, green, red, green, red. That's what I see all the time.
-
And -1 for boasting about dominating lower skilled players
-
Could have gotten lucky with the time of day and players that were on and playing. I live East coast, early...I mean real early morning I end up being matched with Europe or Asia....a lot of lag and I do not do all that great, if I play evenings lag is next to none and my k/d goes up, yes I get the occasional red bar player that's probably like me, playing early morning and there are next to no players near him so he get matched with someone in the states. Remember...this is p2p, so someone's console is used as the server....hopefully his connection doesn't lag out or everyone lags out. The biggest cause of lag is a global player base using p2p.
-
Some people are good because of their crutch red bar.

There is no deliberate lag provided to higher tier players... 3.The game is P2P...it is hosted...Destiny doesn't provide better servers for lower tier players...they don't provide servers... 4. I agree that cheating is a much bigger problem than the community wants to admit, whether it be lag switching or home network congestion. Doesn't matter if it is intentional or not...still cheating. Don't drink the kool-aid...the only people that want you to have a bad experience are other players. Since the dawn of time, if something has been worth winning, someone has seen it as something for which they should cheat.

Dude you aren't MLG get over yourself.

You don't get servers in crucible.
