Bungie, please do this, or you lose a lot of people on servers
Bungie, Destiny players on legacy systems (such as I) have been saddened to hear that there will be a dlc for only new-gen consoles, and some have already decided to quit on Destiny entirely. I propose this, either do a free 'dlc' for legacy consoles that give a updated VOG, a year 2 gjallarhorn or similar, or to just live with less players and knowing that YOU have caused this issue. Either Gjallarhorn year 2, or the majority of players on legacy consoles leave. Make your choice. You can contact me @ [REDACTED] if you would like to hear more on YOUR Destiny (pun intended).

90% of Destiny players are on current gen consoles. This leaves 10% on legacy consoles. Sorry it doesn't make sense to use the resources needed to bring RoI or anything else for that matter to old gen consoles.

alright , here it is in a nutshell. on Destiny release only about 10-15% of the gaming community had moves to the next gen. meaning they couldn't ignore the PS3 and 360. fast forward 1.5-2 years later and that statistic is reversed, it is no longer cost effective to program for 4 different consoles. especially when the price point is 33% cheaper to boot.

I'm sure you know this, but most companies won't be supporting the, 'Legacy' machines from this year on. BUNGIE are just keeping up to date with all the other companies and also the new updated consoles which are being released this year and next. It was inevitable that Destiny wouldn't have support for the new DLC as the game will eventually go 60FPS like others on the new consoles and companies, not just BUNGIE, don't want the expense of doing a conversion, especially to the PS3 as the cell chip is a pain in the ass to code for.

1 ReplyFor the love of God STFU. Get over it. Xbox One and PS4 have been out for 3 years now. Welcome to gaming, as new consoles release, development for stuff on older consoles ceases. Buy a Xbox One or PS4 or deal with it. Can't afford a new console because you're a kid dependent on mommy and daddy's money? Oh well. You're an adult but have other responsibilities? Oh well. Not Bungie's problem. And certainly not the problem of those of us who already have a Xbox One or PS4.

Seemingly legacy players on ps3 and xbox only make up 10% of the playerbase. Losing 10% of your revenue is bad business but it's not going to cripple them.

Especially when only 10% of their player base is on last gen. This is only a good thing for the game. It means we won't be held back by the limits of a 10+ year old system anymore, because that's what was happening. Bungie had to develop around those limitations so that everyone had the same experience. They don't need to do that now. Current gen consoles are about 300 bucks right now. Mow some lawns and save up money. 300 bucks isn't that much. I pay 660 bucks in rent every month.

11 RepliesFirst off, XB1 and PS4 are NOT new-gen, they are 3 years old and are current gen consoles. Second, Bungie never came out and said legacy consoles will get nothing. They said the character paths for legacy consoles and current gen consoles are going to split this coming September. So increased light level, new content, gear, and weapons are of course out of the question, but Bungie could very well have some sort of parting gift for the legacy console owners. Also, having such a finality in your post like "Either Gjallarhorn year 2, or the majority of players on legacy consoles leave. Make your choice." does not help you in any way. Bungie has made their decision already and I agree with it.

As somebody who plays on both depending on the friends online. I am sad that its time to realize the 360/PS3 era has ended. And it sucks that I will not be able to enjoy the new content with my old raid team. But the consoles are 10+ years old. Its time to let them rest in peace. As a current gen player. I am excited that it will no longer be help back by the last gen limitations. I am excited and hyped to see what Bungie can do with the game now that they dont have to limit everything. Either way. I thank bungie for keeping Last gen relevant for aslong as they did. I made alot of friends on LFG 360. And I hope they will upgrade so we can continue to enjoy those times. like I said. The consoles are 10+ years old. Why should the game developers limit their games potiential for a decade old console? While I understand that life comes first. If you wanted to "Continue the story" it shouldnt be difficult to save up. But I do not know anybodies situation. However I do not feel like legacy consoles are entitled to any developments. If you get future content great. If not. Well. Grow up and stop complaining about it. If your in a situation shere you cant just save up a few bucks every paycheck or allowance or what ever. Then worry about your life priorities first instead of not getting the newest DLC of a game.

First of all, and i am really sorry to say this, its not Bungie's fault that you are still on last-gen. Current gen is already out for a few years and support for last gen is dropping. If you are lucky, servers will be up and running for a year. Its time to move on, im sorry. Second, a free DLC for last gen only? Like really? What benefit will that have? A updated VoG? Are you trying to boost sales for last gen Destiny or something? And most likely, last gen wont even be able to handle a updated VoG to begin with since its already at its max with current Destiny. Look, i know this sucks ass. You have to buy a new console and the exact same game again to play the next DLC. I understand the frustration and Bungie shouldnt have dragged Destiny 1 out for so long that they have to leave last gen behind "mid-game". But last gen cant keep up anymore and is dragging back current-gen with alot. Should there be some kind of compansation for you guys? Yeah there should. "Oh, you have bought year 1 DLC's and TTK on last gen? Here is the free upgrade to current gen for free since you already paid for it" would be a great start. The base game is not expensive anymore and would help you guys out alot.
