We european gamers want regional based matchmaking on Trials of Osiris

Me and my usual teammates are italian, and we play with the bad connection we can afford in our country, worst than the other european ones, but when we meet german, french, spanish or english people we have odds to win. But for us it's impossible to win against people from US. It's a game not fair at all: american gamers don't take damage, they are too fast to counterattack, they kill us without we can see them. It's frustrating. Bungie can you see in your online statistic the winning percentage for european people against american gamers? Because I'm pretty sure it's not balanced. We are TIRED AND SICK by losing in games not fair at all. Trials of Osiris are awesome, one of the best online tournament I've ever seen, but it's not good at all playing in usual situation of disadvantage. We can win or we can lose against other european gamers, it's part of the game. But against people from the US we don't have any possibility. Bungie, can you change your matchmaking settings? Why we have to play against american? Any other european player think the same?

Hi all, sorry for my ignorance, but connection problems, lag included, is not that particular thing that makes the edge during online matches? Most of the times, when I met someone that had a faulty connection (bar almost depleted, default red) he/she had the advantage to me, in the sense that the laggy fight ended with me shooting a wall instead of a proper player, while he/she was already behind my back taking me down with a convenient shotgun. Furthermore, I strongly believe that after the April update, Trial of Osiris should be based on the win average, a sort of SBMM, if you want, but not so much like it. There are people that have been carried all along and their win percentages are totally altered by that. I remember Cozmo saying this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/448a8h/trials_of_osiris_shouldnt_be_sbmm_win_based_is/ Anyway, even with my powerful German connection, I still getting heavy lag situations, people shooting me down through walls and ineffective point blank hit from my shotgun/hand cannon. There is a sum of issues here, a too-long-list to put it only on the matchmaking solely... first of all, dedicated server absence.

    • That's the horrible downside to p2p servers running SBMM priority. Destiny will never have a truly competitive PvP with this setup.

If you purchased a Netduma router you could set the distance beyond which you would not be matched with people. That would partially solve the problem. I am also in Europe so I understand your difficulties

      • Cross continent latency sucks for hit registration. This other thing is even worse, when you say enemy is "too fast to counter attack". It's "host advantage". In Destiny with 300ms behind the host you truly can't see them in time until those last few frames and your radar doesn't even light up.

      • Destiny should have been region locked if they did not plan on putting dedicated servers.

        • All bungie needs to do is get rid of SBMM and go to CBMM. That'll solve a lot of problems for now. Skill based makes no sense with the way this game is setup. I get what they're trying to do but it hasn't worked. Go back to the year 1 way. It was much better.

It hits Americans the same as you're describing too. It's the latency brought in by cross-continental matching. Americans paired to Australians can get wrecked everytime, and paired to most of Europe produces the same results. SBMM is a garbage matchmaking mode without dedicated servers. Unfortunately we'll have to deal with it or stop playing because bungie won't change it and activision won't spend the money to do so. We share servers with CoD. Want change in this game, vote with your wallet. That's all bungivision will listen to.

Everyone wants region locks and dedicated servers. Not just Europeans. Let's be honest.

            • I'm not sure how much of an option for you it is, but I have a netduma router that pretty much fixes the distance issue. Granted it was $200, but if you have the money, play multiple pvp games, and have some say in the Internet in your house, it can be quite worth it. I went from averaging 100ms fairly consistently, to now 35-50ms of ping. I rarely see it ping over 65 on a bad day. For me it was well worth it, as I like to be able to control as much as I can, not just be at the mercy of a cable company or Bungies matchmaking. In addition, my buddies I play with are about 200 miles away from me, my router makes it fairly easy to essentially set up private matches with them. We played inferno rumble with no HUD together

This happen cuase there only a small player base who play it now. Think about it there's probably only 1000 3 win or less at any one time on so as we go higher there probably only 500 5 win 300 7 win 100 8 win so with a player base that small to choose from of course it match you with people from another country we could limit it to hourly sessions once every 2 hours so that when it opens back after the break there will be more online playing but that would be just unfair to those framing vets.

                • This is why i stopped playing trials, me and my team lives in sweden but we would always get set up against Australians or Americans, Sometimes it worked fine but for the most part it was impossible to play and even if it did work we lost intrest in playing any crucible game mode. It feels like they've destroyed every weapon type in the game due to crybabies and bitches bitching...
