SPOILERS Civil War Reviews SPOILERS

Hey guys, saw Civil War yesterday. It was pretty awesome! Let's talk about your thoughts. Try to keep spoilers in spoilers though. No need to spoil anything. Those who haven't seen the movie, you have been warned. This thread will definitely have spoilers. Let's break it down. Things done great:
Overall I'd say all the characters were done well. We got some new faces like Black Panthers and Spiderman who were both fantastic. The plot moves along well and doesn't reveal everything to the viewer right away. We had our classic Marvel humor, and we got to see new aspects of every character. (Like antman increasing size, and Vision realizing he isn't perfect. But, I have a couple issues with the plot ↓
Things I disliked/nitpicking: (Warning, Opinion)
The fight itself is first. As awesome as it was to watch super heroes beat the tar out of each other Ironman wasn't listening to reason at all. The fact that they all just started fighting wasn't realistic IMO. That's probably the second biggest thing. Another smaller nitpick was the main antagonist. He was fairly underwhelming, though brilliant. And my previous point brings us to my biggest issue. Ironman fighting Cap and Buck at the end. His mom had been dead for years, and he knew Bucky wasn't himself when he killed her. So why would he try killing Bucky now? It was completely pointless. (But that fight scene was dope). Overall though, I'd say it was a great movie
Fun fact I noticed in recent movies.
Superheroes fighting other superheroes because of their moms.....
• The air port fight was the best comic book fight in history in terms of creativeness and spectacle. But that last fight between Cap and Iron Man is the most intense of all time. Like seriously. Never have I seen something so like that. Tony was just bloodlusted.

    • All I really can say is that despite this being all comic book story line related, I don't like when the good guys fight the other good guys. I just don't understand, with the world seemingly at the precipice with unknown dangers that could arrive at anytime from the universe, these guys have to fracture the the only hope for saving it because of a disagreement? Dislikes: -Obviously the initial plot -Spiderman's mention about Star Wars. I think Peter Parker would be nerd enough to have known what to call things. That's pretty much it. Likes;
-Black Widow showing her ability to flip back and forth between sides. After all that is what she's best at, deception. -Showing just how powerful some of them can be, when it's time to unleash. Granted I don't know all the comic over done things, and don't really want to. But seeing the Scarlet Witch's ability was a little scary. Spiderman taking on anybody with no second thought of whether he was up to their level or not. -When Friday told Iron Man that he was no match for Captain America toward the conclusion. -Watching Panther chase Bucky while being chased by Cap't Am through the tunnel. Just how much faster they are. That never really translated before, like in the first CA and he chased down the Hydra spy in NY. The sense of speed just wasn't there. -Falcon had a little more oomph, and less side kick-y.
• Great action, slow increasing plot and the FEELS! Hit me straight in the feels. I dare say the bad guy won this battle.
The avengers were split, hurt. Iron man was already feeling guilty enough because of mistakes he made. Then he saw how brutally his parents were murdered and the killer is next to him. Yeah reason was abandoned because of anger and Captain knew which made it worst. It was like he prefered Bucky instead of him. "Sorry but he is my friend" "So was I" Captain was such a good sport though, he left the shield that Iron Man thought he didn't deserve made by his father. When they make up im sure he will give the shield back or maybe even a better one. He got the phone, now Iron Man just needs to chill.
• This movie was great. I think what did it for me was the aspect of Forgiveness vs Revenge. Stark saw what the Winter Soldier did and immediately set himself on a path of revenge and was unwilling to listen to reason. Whereas Black Panther took a look at himself and realized that he was letting vengeance consume him, and that forgiveness was the right thing. Spiderman and Ant man were my favorite heroes, both of them never take anything too seriously because they are too strong to care.

        • My problems Iron man felt underpowered in that last fight, and if they went with the comics he would've won, but that part is beyond the point. Spider-Man felt a wee bit too strong And the fighting didn't seem to be really justified, save for Tony being in rage at the end, and the small bit of vision v Hawkeye and black panther. I feel like they should've spent more movie time trying to justify it a bit more Also the ending, I just feel like Tony should've won My likes Black Panther All the action scenes, they were amazing The Spider-Man look and the such, after I watched him for a bit Villain was actually pretty interesting Overall the movie was pretty nice, but it needed more quips imo. It almost felt a little more serious, albeit only a little bit

          • Iron man didn't know that Bucky was the one who killed his parents until Zemo showed that video. Imagine someone showed you a video of your parents being murdered, and the murderer is standing right next to you. You wouldn't let it slide because "he wasn't himself." You would not be thinking straight. Only problem I have with the movie was the familiar antagonist. His family died from collateral damage, he wants to get revenge. He can't take them down himself so he instigates infighting by exploiting a characters emotional weakness. I liked the character Zemo but there's lots of stories just like him in film and literature, but it wasn't that big of a deal or flaw. Everything else about the movie is amazing. They really stepped up the hand to hand combat which was what I was most looking forward to. I'd give the movie a 9.5/10 and plan on watching it again.

          • This thing is, with Iron Man fighting Bucky because of his mom's death all those years ago, even though Stark knew that Bucky wasn't himself, he also wasn't acting rationally. He just saw a man he already didn't trust kill his parents on camera. He wasn't in his right mind. I can understand the bloodlust. I can understand the sudden urge to kill Bucky. On a side note, did anybody else feel that it ended WAY too abruptly?

            •
The emotion in the final fight was the best part of the whole movie, however, Iron Man would have wiped the floor with Buck and Cap realistically. Same way a Grizzly would kick the shit out of a Tiger. (Looking at you Jungle Book.) < also an amazing movie btw <
• I'm really surprised by everyone's reaction to how young Aunt May is. Yeah I know she's super old looking in the comics. Has been for years. But take into account that she is his aunt. Not great aunt, not great great aunt. His aunt. Marisa Tomei is the perfect age to play Peter's aunt realistically. Richard Parker wasn't 60 when Peter was born. That would be the ONLY way to justify May looking as old as she does in the comics. I for one can't wait for Spider-Man: Homecoming!

                      • I had two issues: 1)
Ant Man and Spiderman felt entirely unnecessary. You could have taken them out of the movie. They really only provided fanservice for one scene (which would have ended the same regardless).
2)
People's "power" was all over the place. Bucky made sense as when he's the Winter Soldier he goes as out but may be holding back as Bucky, not wanting to hurt anyone. Other characters though seem to be either really powerful (taking on two or three guys at once) or much weaker (requiring assistance against one of the same guys they were just pwning).
Other than those two things I thought it was great.

I thought it was awesome, it was everything that Batman v Superman should've been. I just wish that there was a villain who was a threat to all of the avengers. I get it he was angry at them for what happened to his family in Sakkovia but he wasn't really a threat to anyone other than Iron Man, Cap, and Bucky.
sidenote: Sony giving the rights to Spider-Man was the best thing about the movie
• Three Golden Rules of Comic books that apply to movies: 1. Comic book time will never make sense. Ever. Trying to figure it out will result in migraines. 2. Title characters (and Jean Grey) are never allowed to die permanently. 3. A trench coat and fedora will make you inconspicuous and unidentifiable, no matter how obvious it is that that is the Juggernaught.
