Destiny 2 leveling suggestion

OK first off I would like to say that while destiny has an interesting leveling system I think some changes should be made for destiny 2 First off is to separation of character level and light level. I believe these should be separated to represent the two different modes PvE and PvP. Let's start with light level. Honestly I believe the light level should represent a characters PvE power. As we know from the lore the traveler gave the guardians the ability to wield its Light. Light level shouldn't be dependant on RNG it should be a sum total of the guardians experience in fighting against the darkness. The more a guardian has fought against the darkness the more Light level he or she gains. Gear would have light level requirements to equip but would not be the focus point of which gear you wear. By doing so you would allow the player a far greater variety in the gear he or she chooses to wear. This would let players look cool without lowering their effectiveness in PvE activities. Of course the higher the requirement the better the perks would be. Perhaps a larger buff between the same perks if the light requirement was 335 instead of 320. This would still give people the grind of finding better gear but wouldn't dictate what they wear or how they look as much. Moving on to character level. I strongly believe that the character level should be the focus point of PvP and have no ties to light level at all. The reason for this is because currently leveling up to level 40 has no purpose other then to let you equip gear. Which makes it a useless level system in the long run. By making this level system about PvP it would represent the time spent in the crucible meaning the more you play PvP the higher your character level would be Gear worn in the crucible could be dependant on this level system to determine the rarity of the gear acquirable through the end of match rewards. This would mean the more you play the crucible and the higher you character level the better rewards you will get from the crucible. Giving the character leveling system a meaning since ttk took away all meaning to even have a character level in the first place. Anyways those are my thoughts and suggestions I think would give destiny a much more straight forward and fun leveling system. It would take away some of the frustration of grinding for gear without removing the need to grind completely as well as give a reason for even still having a character level. Please give me your thoughts and suggestions on this if I need to change anything or add anything let me know. I just feel the current leveling system needs to be reworked for the second installment of the destiny series.

  • I agree they need to do something and that's an interesting idea. Kabr, Draken and I are playing and we were just actually talking about how stupid the LL are. Draken is leveling a new character and was talking about being Level 38 and I was actually confused for a second because I hadn't thought about us actually being "level 40" Like you said it's so pointless. Our level is whatever at LL is. 40 is just as fake as 20 was before it.
