So your playing crucible and your red barring. You know your Internet isn't the best but it should be better than this. So what should you do?
Step 1. Check whether or not your system is connected by an cable or wifi.
Step 2. If possible put effort into connecting your system to the router via ethernet cable (no more than 25ft to minimize latency lag).
Step 3. If a wired connection simply isn't possible. Use your phone or computer to access your router settings. (Google for how to access your routers model if you don't know how to do this)
Step 4. Go into your routers wireless settings and make sure it's only broadcasting on a single wireless band. Such as 802.11g or 802.11ac (prefered) or 802.11n (newest but xbox doesn't support) if your running multiple bands your router has to work 2x to 4x as hard for no reason.
Step 5. Ensure that you have minimal objects in your wifi signals path. Walls, other electronics, cement, and metal will reduce your signals power. Avoid having other devices connected to wifi as this causes a muffling effect when high speeds are needed. Try to keep your system within 20ft of the router if at all possible.
Step 7. reboot the router and your system, via unplugging and pressing powerbutton 10 times on your console and waiting 30 seconds after unplugging the router.
CAUTION: pressing the little reset button with a pen or wire on your router will wipe it's memory and make it unable to connect to your Internet service providers (isp) servers. This results in no Internet till you call your isp to reconnect your router.
Step 8. Plug your router power cable in first and give it 3 min before you reconnect anything to it. After 3 min reconnect your console.
Doing all these things will give you your best chance at speeding up your connection. Also don't be a cupcake and try to download games or updates while your playing online.

Have fun everyone
