-not as much as a theory as a lore from the grimoire-
The hive worm gods, the ones that gave oryx(or shall i say aurash) his (or her) powers, are actually dragons. They wrre hunting the traveler with oryx. But it doesnt mean they are the ahamkara, right?
Wrong. They also speak exactly like the ahamkara. Sayings like, oh bearer mine, or oh reader mine are what ahamkara sqy, and thats how the worm gods talk. But wait. They were also making guardians do things, even as dead stuff on your armor they can make you do stuff. They are even darker than the hive.

Thats just a theory. It hasn't been proven the Ahamkara and worms are the same. They may talk the same, but so did Sathona when she was around the white worm for too long, and she definitely wasn't a dragon or a worm.
-
Ah, but the worms and the ahamkara are still separate beings. They refer to each other, and there are hints the worms don't like the ahamkara. But there is a running theory that the ahamkara are evolved from the worms, and an additional theory that Oryx's corpse went into a chrysalis on its way to Saturn and will evolve into an ahamkara.

A dragon with oryx face would not be a pretty face.
Oryx's corpse went into a chrysalis on its way to Saturn and will evolve into an ahamkara.
And then he opens a vex time gate and brings back the rest of them to attack the last city Thatd be a fun dlc
