I actually quite like infusion, as you can keep weapons you like and level them up instead of having to discard them and use something stronger when they get maxed out. Maybe they could combine infusing weapons and having to earn an etheric light which you could slot into a weapon to give it elemental damage. 3 slots per weapon and you can toggle between the elemental damage like you could with murmer

To be fair, Before TTK, you could max out a weapon quicker. Infusion did not change anything in regards to maxing out a weapon. I am not sure where you get that we maxed out weapons, and discarded them when we got something stronger. In Vanilla, the weapon maxed out in power when we maxed out the gun. Then CE dropped, nothing changed, though we got new weapons, old weapons were stuck at the old levels. Though the fatebringer still ruled. Then when HOW dropped they changed the system even more. Weapons dropped at the CE level(334), Though some did drop at 365 POE weapons at least. However you could put etheric light on them, and make them 365. However the attack level was not part of the upgrade tree as before. Now weapons drop still with no attack power in the upgrade tree, however instead of using etheric light, or just having maxed out power levels it takes more grinding to get a weapon to max power, as you have to grind the raid, or get a lucky drop in IB, or trials to get a given gun to the maxed out attack level of 320. Though I would love for them to introduce something like etheric light to toggle an elemental burn.
