Free does not equal Value
To all these people trashing everyone who complains about the new content claiming "it's free you have no right to complain"
Destiny is not a free to play game.
There has been nothing but "free to play" content for the last couple months and the foreseeable future.
To make my point clear, there are lots of free to play games that aren't [b]worth[/b] your [b]time[/b]
Destiny is falling into this trap, we have a game we like but is becoming diluted with free to play crap without actually being free to play.
There is, however, worthwhile free content. Look at a game like heroes of the storm. Whether you like it or not, their new maps (which are completely free) and new heroes (which can be earned or bought) is pretty game changing significant content. That's just one example.
The sparrow racing was one thing, but this is crap on a whole other level.
It being free doesn't justify it's value to players.
If you like it that's your opinion, if you don't that's also your opinion and your all entitled to it. But Bungie has no real ground to disregard this complaint from its community.
Final note: there is also a difference between a company trying to make money and making outright bad decisions. For example they start selling multiple emotes, then only let you equip one. Players want it, players will buy more, everybody wins... This is just bad decision making and ultimately could ruin the company.
Edit: two big responses have come up that I would like to address.
1. "It's free, if you don't like it go play something else"
You have a favourite restaurant. It has great food for a reasonable price. You go there all the time, and the business thrives. One day the restaurant changes it's menu to one item, crackers for free. You and other customers start to complain, wanting the old menu back. The business responds "if you don't like it, go somewhere else." So you do, the restaurant goes out of business. We're you in the right to complain?
2. "I've played for x hours, which makes it have more value, because more hours per dollar,"
Time does not equal value either. A movie costs $20 for 2 hours. However, you can watch a movie 1000 times, so you get an hour of entertainment for 2 cents. Worth it right? They could charge $200 and justify it.
I go to my job and spend 8 hours a day there, yet they pay me for it....

Tldr: anybody who actually cares to bitch about needs back up and start caring about something that matters. You bought the damn game, its a free item. You didnt buy the game, its a free item that you cant get because you dont play. Think theres no content? Stop playing and stop giving money to their company.

Nothing in Destiny is free. I'm still waiting for the rest of TTK, or was that one raid and the dreadnought all I'm getting for my 40 quid? I got games like Forza 6, metal solid and fallout 4 for 40 quid ffs. Bungie then try play some sort of poverty card, saying they need the money from microtransactions for the 'live team' to come up with crap like doubles!?! Seriously. ..........

33 RepliesI hear ya, I paid $40 for TTK and it basically negated my first $120 worth of purchases. $160 for a DLC that destroyed the game I bought and loved, wiped out a year of my hard work and left me with 25% of the content I started with. :-/

There are succesfull free to play games out there so the argument of them sucking is dumb. (this is not directly directed at the OP btw) LoL is f2p, Dota is f2p, Wargaming games are f2p (WoT, Warships...) and last but not least popular f2p game is Smite. Lets also not forget Warframe. Not a fan of the game, but the game improved imensly in the last two years.

2 RepliesWell we payed for the game, we played the original game, Bungie added lots of fixes, and though the DLCs were overpriced, we still got the original value of the game. Now if you're saying something free should have more value, then you're wrong. If you don't want to play Crimson Doubles, don't play it. We're better off without some people.

3 RepliesI agree. Arby's used to give a free sandwich for doing a 5 minute online thing. As soon as they saw you had the coupon the sandwiches never looked as good as the ones you payed for. Free usually means minimal effort, just look at Crimson Doubles.

12 RepliesIt is not free. We need PSN or XBL and pay a yearly fee for it. $50 / year, minimum. The end game is unplayable without it. I don't care that BUNGiE is not getting the money from that. It's still coming out of my pocket. I'm considering ejecting the Destiny disc from my PS4 for the first time in the last 16 months, lol.

It's all to keep expectations low for the sequel, where they will most likely keep up this type of bullshit because of the money people throw at every little thing they put out. This game is hardly worth playing anymore, once i get my last drop for 320 I doubt I'll have any more interest since there will be better options as for what to play very soon.

I look at it this way. I love X restaurant. I love dining in at this place. Before I used to get everything to include utensils and napkins and sauce or spice packets for free. Then one day X restaurant started charging $x for napkins. I don't care. I don't need their napkins. I'll just go to the bathroom if things get too messy. Then one day they also start charging for sauce or spice packets. Well that sucks but if need be, I can always bring my own syrup (get reference?). Anyway it alters my dining experience a lot, but I'll put up with it because I like their food. Then one day they start charging for the use of their utensils. At this point I start getting pissed off. I either have to bring my own, eat like a caveman or start ordering out. I bring my own utensils for a while but it's a real hassle. So I order to go. But the food doesn't taste as good. I have to deal with a lot of styrofoam and now my experience is just ruined. I stop going to this restaurant. I see destiny and many many other games becoming this with Microtransactions. It's odd or weird at first but no real concern. Then I'm eating food at home out of a styrofoam container. Forget about the fact that destiny and a whole lot of other AAA games are cutting up their content too. So one day I get a steak. Next day I get veggies. And next day I get potato.

Just because they did not charge for the exact event they are putting out at the exact moment I assure you they made the money to pay for it with all those emotes people are buying. It is only a free event to those people who have not spent money on emotes sparrows and so on. Just think about it they make more money for 5 emotes for 1 person than they do 1 dlc for that same person and spend A LOT less time and effort making it. They then push an even on already existing content and maybe change some rules and call it a free event. Oh wow we have something to do on stuff we already had wait we are doing the same stuff we were already doing on the same stuff we were doing it on you just took one person away nice trickery Bungie. Besides all that being said I still have somewhere around $150 or better in this game so I have paid for the content.
