I doubt they will get rid of progress, but that being said if they happen to add another biome it will just happen to destroy everything where it's going to be placed at. It happened when they added the swamp, everything there was destroyed in order to put it in. There's really not many biomes to put in the game now though, maybe a desert but that's all I can think off. I'm sure once the game releases there will be more maps than just the island(I'm hoping).

The devs said that they won't add any more biomes to the base map, to prevent it from feeling crowded, but they are talking about new biomes like a desert for when they get procedurally generated maps up and running

I imagine it will. The game seems to be building up to a full game. I have a feeling they will just take the "(game preview)" label off the game and call it full at some point. I dont see why they would reset all progress made. I really hope they dont reset everything, so many people have dumped so much time.
