  • Alright, copy/pasting from a forum I made: I was wondering how effective a build would be, if it was built around Bloodtinge > Skill > Arcane. I haven't had an arcane build before and after seeing some of the magic tools in action it sounds really fun. I need advice on weapons, armor, and general build info, anything constructive is greatly appreciated.

  • In my experience the use of Arcane tools is drastically underwhelming, they're for the most part completely worthless due to the amount of QS Bullets used and the amount of damage they do, which is not a lot. Add in that they're incredibly easy to dodge and you've got Arcane tools. In my honest opinion it's far more efficient and reliable to just use your gun to parry. So here's some math for you, the hard cap of Arcane is 50, meaning it's where you stop getting gains when you level it, and at 50 Arcane, weapons that have an S scaling in Arcane have a scaling of +81 damage. Meaning that Arcane scaling is pretty much the worst stat when it comes to scaling towards damage. Now, unfortunately, it's impossible to tell the base damage of all of the Arcane tools. But let's go with the offensive ones: Augur, Executioner Gauntlets, Tiny Tonitrus, A Call Beyond, Blacksky Eye, and Accursed Brew. Augur at 50 arcane does 408 damage Executioners Gauntlets do about 663 Tiny Tonitrus does about 620 A call beyond does about 583 per dot that hits (which will be only 1 on players) Blacksky eye does 208 And the accursed Brew does 555 Now keep in mind those are all at 50 arcane Meaning that at an Optimal Bloodtinge/Skill/Arcane build you'll want at least 30 in each to be good But you'd have to sacrifice your Vitality and Endurance to about 20 each, ending you at about SL 150. It's by far the most skill-intensive build you'll ever try to play, and in Bloodborne I find that puts you at a severe disadvantage in PvP. But it's up to you, and you asked me to give you advice and my completely opinionated and biased advise is not to do that. But if you still want to try, I'd suggest nixing the Blood/Skill idea and go for Str/Skill/Arcane since the Holy Moonlight Sword exists now and it makes Arcane Builds a lot more viable. It has natural 100 Arcane base damage with an A scaling in Arcane B scaling in Str and C scaling in Skill. So My stat recommendations would be 30 Str, 20 Skill, and 30 Arcane, if you listen to me and go with that. That way you can still have 30 Vitality and 20 Endurance at SL 150.

Use nourishing gems (can farm the gargoyles in pwmf22gu easily for decent radials)! Don't use arcane or physical gems for this build - just nourishing. I'd also suggest runes for increased health, increased stamina, higher quicksilver bullet capacity (cause that's what you use for charge attacks and magic), higher blood vial capacity (cause you can exchange them for quicksilver if you need), and lastly, stamina regen speed increased. The skill/bloodtinge build is also amazing - perhaps even more versatile and effective for the higher difficulty content like depth 5 cursed fetid rotted defiled chalice stuff. For that, I would use Chikage, Evelyn, Bowblade (bow form only). Use physical gems on Chikage and bloodtinge gems in Evelyn and Bowblade. I would also use the same runes as I mentioned in for the moonlight build. Get good with stagger and visceral and you're good to go!

  • Hm. Okay, well that discouraged me building arcane quite a bit. What if I decided to just do bloodtinge/skill? That seems to be a fairly popular PvP style build

  • Extremely popular, and extremely powerful. The Chikage was one of the strongest weapons in the base game and it still holds up, the only downside is that it drains your health slowly, but that's also why it's so powerful. I've literally been two-shotted with that sword xD Build wise obviously optimal is 30/30 but if you want the extra oomph but don't want/need more health or endurance you can bump it up to 40/40. Weapons should consist of Chikage with appropriate Blood Gems and the Evelyn pistol with at least one Bloodtinge gem. Preferably at +9 alongside your +10 Chikage. Armor is pretty much not useful in Bloodborne as a whole, so find something you look great in and just wear that.

  • Good to know. I was pretty proud of myself advancing all the way to the blood starved beast in the span of a day, now I just need to buy some blood cocktails and kill him.
