The only purpose for this level system is to increase the grind and have people play more. I prefer a regular level system over something that make me play certain activities to get to the max level (which doesn't even matter). The fact that RNG decides what level I am is absolutely stupid. The amount of ignorance put into this level system is beyond shocking. What are your thoughts on infusion?

Edit 2: Anyone else on board with a leveling system that is based around character experience, and not your gear?

i personaly like the infusion system but would like it better if year one items could be infused to a higher level. and i dont mean for only 1 week before the next dlc. i mean like starting with the next dlc. i also want my intrusion shell...
-
I would be ok with the light system if they changed your infusion rate to 100%. You're already sacrificing the higher gun completely, why do you need to sacrifice light as well? It's ridiculous.
-
"The only purpose for this level system is to increase the grind and have people play more." You're right, Bungie should make us play less. What are they thinking?
-
Edited by MonkeyMillion: 2/9/2016 8:15:03 AMInfusion isn't the problem. People playing a grindy game and complaining about grinding is. If you don't want a grind play the story, the strikes, the raid and then...
another game
I think they should improve the level conversion rate slighty on infusion, and look at how the rng system gives drops to people nearing the cap. All the way up to about 310 its all good.
-
I'm gonna partially agree. I dig the infusion system, but it is rough. I'd like to see it tweaked, too. I think I would start by not allowing drops and engrams to roll lower than your current light. You should never have to drop Light Level to use current Year weapons. It is close to the same system: Down level 30 doesn't do damage against level 34 enemies just like a guardian with 250 light can't hurt a 290 light level enemy. Level just became a artificial limiter to activites until you hit 40.
-
Infusion is ok, it's the terrible loot system that is the problem.
-
Infusion is dog shit...
-
I thought the infusion system was to bring the weapons and armor you want to use with you Instead of leaving it behind when you get something at a higher light level. Unfortunately with the complete lack of a guaranteed way to boost light level the infusion system is more annoyance than something to look forward too.
-
No, old armour must come back.

They could do something like they did with Etheric Light where if you got a god roll it was instantly maxed instead of putting us through a bullshit progression system who's sheer existence is to extend your playtime and make you pull your hair out over end-game drops. HoW with Etheric Light was the best system so this day. No bullshit, just get your god roll maxed out and have fun. Implement different levels of infusion that require materials. Jumps between 280>290>300>310>320. The in between can be left for the initial drops. (5 increments total) What we currently have is 280>286>292>298>304>310>316>320 (8 increments total). Issue is, you have to have those increments unless you're just making big jumps in between. Don't like this system, it's why I stopped doing raids. Nothing is fun about this game's RNG (Rigged Number System) where raid bosses sometimes drop you nothing and that you have to actually hope to get something, on top of that hope it was hard mode level gear. Forever 29 was better than this hunk of crap. In VoG days all you needed was 4 things to be max level, now you need 9 things to be max level. When in VoG all you needed was a full set of raid gear to be max level. Now? You can have a full set and hard mode gear and not be max level. Let that sink in. Realize that the currently system we have is bullshit. There's nothing "good" about it.

Edited by Dona: 2/9/2016 5:27:43 AMI agree. It's too grindy -.- for lil to no rewards. I spend a few hours doing the raid just to not progress a light and I'm 319, I been 319 for the last over 8 weeks:/ Etheric light is the best approach.. It opens up every activities on destiny which will make it more fun for the pple that are stuck and bored out of their mind.
-
Amen.
-
No, it needs to be *fixed*. Infusion (and light levels) needs to be treated more like etheric light from HoW. You may get a higher level item you like, but if there's something you think you may like more, you must sacrifice it to raise said item.
-
The infusion system is fine, with out it everyone would be running raid gear. Shit needs a guaranteed drop level that's what I hate. Triple rng, first it has to drop, then the roll and then the attack/defence value. It's a joke and why I haven't bothered raiding in ttk.
-
What's wrong with Infusion? You get health for every orb you pick up and if you heal enough of your health to make it full, it also starts shield regen. ;3
-
Class items should not have light on them. It's a god damn cloth cape for crying out loud
-
I don't mind infusion my only -blam!-ing problem is the ship that it drops should not be lower than the light level that I am I should not get a 303 ghost
-
lol xD *facepalm* If level cap "doesn't matter" then why are you so angry??

Edited by Brockie: 2/9/2016 6:52:43 AMIt's not an inherently bad system, but Etheric Light did the same thing much better. Basically if they got rid of the random light (Ie raid/endgame gear drops at 320 like it used to) and made infusion a lossless system a lot of the issues would be fixed. That said, if this system isn't changed to lessen the grind to max level I certainly won't be purchasing Destiny 2. Oh, and making cosmetic items tied to level was incredibly stupid, that should never have happened
-
Yeah honestly once you are over 310+ light hardly matters. Yeah a 320 is going to do more damage in the raid, but who cares, a competent 310 is just as good. I dont have an alternate solution, just pointing out how little of a difference there is between 310 and 320.
-
Its okay to complain. But be constructive and offer a solution.
-
I just don't like the fact our Capes, Bonds, and Marks have Defense on them ._. What's next? Are shaders going to have Light Defense too? ._.
-
It's Bungie knew there was going to be a long gap between The Taken King and the next DLC, so they intentionally made the awful loot grind we currently have, to get people to keep coming back every week for months on end to try to get to 320. Until the next DLC when all current gear becomes useless again.
-
I like the infusion system. What I don't like is that the end-game gear drops at random levels. If raid gear always dropped at 320 then the infusion system of upgrading gear is actually really good. The extra layer of RNG is simply there to try to extend the replay-ability of content even further because they knew content would be lacking in year 2.
-
Infusion isnt the problem, its the lack of gear. The whole ordeal of engrams being under 300 is bull, it should be 310, and then all end game is 311+, with top tier rewards always 320 (light house chest).
-
Just wait till the new expansion or sequel, Bungie will change the system again making you feel you have to grind again.
