THE INFUSION SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REMOVED

The only purpose for this level system is to increase the grind and have people play more. I prefer a regular level system over something that make me play certain activities to get to the max level (which doesn't even matter). The fact that RNG decides what level I am is absolutely stupid. The amount of ignorance put into this level system is beyond shocking. What are your thoughts on infusion? Edit: An article from Forbes on infusion: http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/02/08/why-destinys-economy-shouldnt-remain-rooted-in-infusion/#6270cfeb7065 Edit 2: Anyone else on board with a leveling system that is based around character experience, and not your gear?

The leveling system and loot system need a colossal overhaul. Ones level should NEVER be tied to RNG, ever. A game should not be so much about obtaining max level. Games like this are played for loot. Using your level as a driving factor for playing the game is ingenious really....from Bungie's perspective. It's a false carrot that throws a veil over their poor quality loot. It keeps you going, and playing, and playing...until you realize it never really mattered. Max level means zilch and the game's loot is overall boring from a stat perspective. Everything feels artificial to me. The grind, the loot, it just doesn't "fit". Dunno why I feel this way now, but I do. I feel cheated to a certain extent, even though I have poured countless hours into this game. Hell, maybe that's why. Pour hours upon hours into something expecting a different result. What's that word I am looking for?? Oh yeah, insanity. I fell into this leveling trap and subjected myself to the worst loot system I have experienced in my gaming history.......but hey, hindsight is 20/20.

  • I honestly like the infusion system. What I don't like is that it can't be used on year one items. I also don't like that raid gear/trials gear can drop at lower levels. They should drop at the max possible light expected for those activities. This way it removes the BS RNG of getting gear at lower light than you might need, for several weeks in a row. It was already BS enough back in VoG being stuck at 29 for several weeks just because the boots would not drop, or the same for CE just because another random piece wouldn't drop. Now you not only need each piece to drop, but you need them at a high enough light level. That's one of the main reasons why I've not bothered with doing the raid fully more than once. That garbage is far worse than the infusion system.

  • Indeed. I would keep infusion but remove gear as the fuel. We should use motes of light and etheric light to increase our light. Use light to increase light. Crazy concept.

    • If they insist on this leveling system and using infusion, let us infuse any weapon with any weapon and armor for armor. That would definitely help.

No it should not be removed since I can finally use whatever I want to use but ppl like you just want to be special and flame about everything that exist. Finally not everybody looks the same and I can be at max level by using FWC armor but you would like to see everybody being forced to use raid/trials gear to be at max level don't you?

        • Completely agree, I'm stunned that people are arguing in favor of infusion over etheric light. The amount of content in the game does not justify such a long, random path to levelling up. That they had a perfectly good system in HoW is doubly stupid

        • You've got your eyes set on the wrong thing, guy. The infusion system isn't what's wrong with leveling but the Light Level and that alone. With infusions now you aren't stuck with using the same armour pieces as everyone when you get to the higher levels. It got old really fast when everyone was wearing the same shit back in year one. Also won't it be so annoying when you get that high level gear but it's discipline and strength (with extra fusion rifle ammo/reload speed) and you can't infuse it to your preferred stats? The main problem I see here is how everything revolves around light level. I was 319 on my Warlock for the longest time because I just needed a flipping 320 ghost shell. I even played many ours of the long ass IB Rift and still didn't get a 320 ghost even though I was level 5 on all characters (got 2 x 316 and 2 x 317 ghosts). I finally snagged the ghost shell this past weekend from the totems chest (which I INFUSED into my iron shell for intellect + discipline). Overall it's been a stupid grindfest for that ghost with +2 extra light and that is what's killing the game. A good system would work in a way to reward you for the time spent playing and also take into consideration your current level, for example there could be really long quest-lines for crafting the end level gear which you can only start after getting to 40 or whatever . With this total RNG BS coupled with the Light Level system all you get is a glorified casino simulator. Getting the right loot to level up is like winning the lottery and nothing is ever consistent. I don't like using other games as an example but look at the leveling system in division, you level up as normal with exp and the gear you find is based on your current level as well as the difficulty of the encounter. It doesn't feel like you're being forced to grind just to get the gear that will make you slightly stronger just so you can grind some more, creeping your way to max level. If Destiny didn't have the dumb light system for leveling (or at least tweaked it a little) I doubt all these problems would be there.

          • Prefer it to the original system but could do with tweaking. Should also be able to infuse all rarities of gear

          • Infusion should stay but should bring it to the level of the gear, not 80% of the difference.

          • I dont mind the concept at all, actually I quite like it in that i gives you the option to upgrade something really like. whether it be the looks, the feel, the stats or the perks. not everyone looking exactly the same. But it does need tweaking. I think the main reasons it fails so hard is the double RNG we are all fighting, waiting and hoping for a piece of gear which is useless (from a stats/perks perspective) but actually has high enough light to use as infusion material is a pain in the arse. The second reason is how is calculated so the jump up in light is sometimes only 70-80% of the difference. Which, if your like me, you'll be left with a bunch gear which is at 318/319 because the jump up in light doesnt quite make it to 320. I also hate that exotics need an exotic shard as material to be infused, especially when you are infusing a exotic into an exotic!!! With etheric light, you knew once you got it that the piece you put it into would be max, it was simpler easy to understand and etheric lights were fairly (actually very) easy to obtain.

          • Infusion wasn't a bad idea, but could be improved. they should hybridize it with ascension. Pretty much it should just be an ascension method with tiers, like every 10 or 20 for each "infusion", or they could just make where, based upon the light level of the gear you are putting in, they add so much on, but cut it off when you try to add lets say a 263 to a 300 or something along those lines; just to the point where i dont need 320's to make 320s. maybe 300s and up can infuse to make 320s.

          • I think what they should have done for raid drops was guaranteed 310 for normal and 320 for hard. It would still retain some of the grind. But it would keep it from being infuriating. You'd still need quite a few weapons and armor to get them up to 310 and two to hit 320. If anything is take 315 and 320 guaranteed drops from hard if they wanted more of a grind. At least I wouldn't think I was wasting my time in the raid. I gave up on the raid because I can't get 320 anything. It's always below 315. And yes I know that the challenge mode gives 320 and 310 gear, but with damn RNG I just get the same gear I already have. So it's pointless at this point.

the infusion system on a whole is fine, its the way the loot itself is set up that is problem. and to attempt to clarify what i mean, despite my sucking horribly at explaining, let me put it like this: the infusion system as a whole is fine, because of the fact that you can bring older weapons up to the point of newer ones. (well... most of them... lets not get into the whole year 1 thing) but the problem lies in the fact that gear is no longer at a set light value for each activity. so raid gear is next to worthless because it could actually be WORSE than what you got from a strike, or crucible. if they reworked the RNG system to be like it was in year 1 the whole thing would be near flawless, IE - strikes drop, lets say for sake of example, 250-310 gear, vendors ALWAYS sell 300 or 310 gear, and crucible drops 250-310 gear, trials / iron banner and raids ALWAYS drop 320 gear and hard mode raid gives you the different versions of the normal raid gear with better perks / stats (but same light value). but anyway, the infusion system is fine and, in my opinion at least, should remain in the game for the future (maybe even changed to allow ALL weapons, not just current year ones and not require 2-3 other weapons of the same quality just bring it to the desired level), its the RNG systems that need reworked.

              • Look they aren't going to change a system that is intended to make it hard to level up. They want and love the grind, only thing that keeps people playing.
