The only purpose for this level system is to increase the grind and have people play more. I prefer a regular level system over something that make me play certain activities to get to the max level (which doesn't even matter). The fact that RNG decides what level I am is absolutely stupid. The amount of ignorance put into this level system is beyond shocking. What are your thoughts on infusion?
Edit: An article from Forbes on infusion:

Edit 2: Anyone else on board with a leveling system that is based around character experience, and not your gear?

It doesn't seem very popular so your wish may come true in the next expansion pack. But I wouldn't expect things to go back the way they were. Bungie likes to mix things up in order to keep it fresh.

Edited by Fridén: 2/9/2016 8:10:56 PMI don't mind infusion, I think it just needs to be reworked. Currently you weapons/armor need to be 6 light levels or less for legendary and 4 light levels or less for exotics to hold the whole infusion value. (320 weapon into a 314 weapon makes it 320 for example.) It is hard enough getting 320 gear. That amount should be increased. By A LOT. Maybe 15 - 20 light levels difference would hold the full value (regardless of the rarity of the weapon.)
-
Agreed I prefer the old Vanilla and TDB way of leveling up armor and weapons And HoW way to infuse gear up to date.

Edited by Sneak Attack 65: 2/9/2016 10:10:51 PMI like the infusion system. It makes me feel like any of my weapons can be viable. Now if we could have infusion on year one gear and more consistent levels on the drops, it would be perfect.

The problem is not only the infusion system, but also the light level system as a whole. The year 1 system was much better some ways. The point is that the current system we have is too grindy because of how specific the RNG is. Light level on gear needs to be calculated more broadly. This means that: Instead of you getting a 307 ghost as a loot drop, you could get something more broad like a 300 ghost or a 310 ghost. The light system should scale by intervals of 10 all the way up to the cap at 320. You should also have a higher chance of getting a piece of gear above your current light. Another thing is: Why do artifacts and ghosts even factor into your light? It just intensifies the grind further. They should drop that in the future ffs. I feel like these ideas wouldn't necessarily kill the grind, but make it more forgiving to players.

Edited by contra_reality: 2/9/2016 10:14:31 PMDude just have experienced based leveling for gear power level. After a certain amount of xp your gear gains a light level therefore you increase the level of whatever gear your heart desires so long as you play the flippin' game. You could have infusion to supliment the process, as in, you could infuse a 318 into a 312 to make it 318 but the xp leveling would not leave the player stuck with the 318 forcing him/her to grind activities he/she does not enjoy just for a chance at a higher light drop to max out the gear, he/she could now simply play content he/she enjoys to max out the gear... everybody wins Bungie has a mechanism to keep players playing and players now can enjoy the process and not feel stuck.

Not playing much but essentially it's the only transmutation type system they ever had. Nice not to all look the same ... If you so choose

Forbes has a good article on infusion. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/02/08/why-destinys-economy-shouldnt-remain-rooted-in-infusion/#408101167065

Infusion system is great and works. Instead of everyone wearing same pieces of armor for perks or light, we can all have our own gear we like and really pinpoint our play styles and dress how we want.
-
I agree that it's just a grind to make you spend more time playing the game. I don't actually care for it.
-
It's not RNG Infusion gain = ( Higher light item - lower light item ) x0.8
-
How about no
-
I haven't had any problems with the system
-
Not a fan of infusion. A good idea over a few beers. A bad idea when put into place with the behind the scenes RNG.
-
I like infusion

I like infusion

How about.... Yes
shags you bumm ass boi. Leave infusion in the game i dont wanna have to use these raid weapons just to be maxed light lvl.
-
I strongly prefer the current system to any of the previous ones.
-
Community: We want to be able to use different weapons that we like, and have them at max light Bungie: Alright, we added a system that allows you to take an item you don't want and infuse it into an item you do want effectively increasing its light Community: You assholes! You didn't even think this through! Bungie: We literally gave you what you asked for...
-
I like it.
-
It took me 3 months to get a fkn chest from crotas raid. So no... Infusion is not a grind
-
Yes it sucks, it completely takes away the exciting feeling about getting an exotic
-
I think infusion is great personally. The problem isn't infusion... It's the drops/RNG.

Lol you silly human
