Got a message while playing . .

So played a match of skirmish last night and it was a really close game, came down to the last kill and we lost. Match is over checking out the rewards and my message notification pops up, and it's from someone in the game. I was expecting the usual "you suck" "git gud" type messages, open it up and it's a GG. I am honosetly surprised, seeing so much salt and hate on the forums and in game it was refreshing to get a GG. So get out there and play guardians, there is hope left in humanity still. Edit* Wow didn't think this would get so much attention, I love how everyone has been posting their good stories about people messaging them. In case you haven't yet, post your best message story, be it one of hate and salt or congratulatory.

  • If someone out snipes me repeatedly and isn't using cheap tactics like head glitching I'll message them and tell them they're a great sniper.

  • I try my best to be a good player. By good, I mean I'll try to be the most respectful person I can be. I've had so many angry messages sent to me or so many people teabagging me. I'm a chill dude, that's all there is to it.

  • I always say "gg" if it was a fair played game.

  • I got a message (first time in a long time) after playing some control...basically calling me a "runny coward". I was pretty proud of that. Still feeling warm-and-fuzzy about it today ^_^

  • Got a message while my team was 8-0 in trials saying, please let us win we really want the weapon this week. We proceeded to 5-0 them.
savage.
• Started playing striker and using shoulder charge alot. Had about 10 shoulder charge kills in a rumble match the other day. Waiting for the hate mail to roll in.

    • I once was playing in a Skirmish game and no one would stay on my team, but I held my own. Never died to a super, always used mine to shut them down. I still lost, but I got bows and a GG. Wish I added those players, they were great.

    • I'm glad to see that there's still some humanity left on this planet. XD Back in year 1, I was doing elimination (not trials) and we were losing at first, but then we started to make a comeback. It was 4-4, and we lost. Then one of the guys on my team sent me a message saying "Why didn't you revive me, dick!?!?!?!?!? This is why you suck ass!!!!"

      • I rarely think to send messages in crucible, never hate mail, but I sent a gg to one guy in skirmish today. Both his teammates left, so he was going 1v3, and doing really well. I tried waving at him, but he sniped me in the head, so I gave up on that :p. He played pretty well and almost won, so I send him a gg and said he did really well. He said thanks, and that he did the best he could. It was actually pretty nice :)

      • The most common message I send is "wow you lag" or "always red bar". Lol.

Sent a GG to two players who versed us against us 3 and almost won until someone decided to pick up heavy after we clearly "waved it off"

        • Got a weird message in last week's trials from a guy whose team we had beat 5-0 or 5-1, it just said "go back to xbox". Still don't really know what the point of sending that was... lol

          • I also have this habit when I occasionally delve into skirmish with a team. Normally, we'll try. But as soon as we see two people leave, whoever I'm playing with waves, and then sits in a central location. We don't fight them. We all build up our supers, normally they hang out for a bit, after the realized that we've called a cease fire. I'm sorry, but if you continue to kill one person on a team, that's not skill. It's an unfair fight, and for the little bastards crying nerf all the damn time, that should be something you don't do. You give it time. You let other players join in, then scatter While leaving the person that stayed behind alone. It's called decency. Plus, it has potential to net you a determined friend.

            • I send 2 types of messages. 1. I inform redbarring players in crucible they've been reported. 2. I let good teams and players know I appreciated a true beat down over the cheating BS you see so often lately. I'm never a douche about it, but because they supposedly "ban" people with connection issues, I want those that are red barring to know about the report. Less idiots on the forum going "Waaaaah why have I been baaaaaanned, waaaaa!!" Cause that shit's pathetic. You know why you got banned, bitch, don't lie.

I felt like I was the only one out of a rare bunch to send out "GG" messages. Sometimes I send messages to other players, complimenting a specifically great play during the match. Out of good will, I suppose.

I once played a control match where I was number one on my team. I had somewhere between 5-7k points (can't remember cause this was about a month ago). Enemy team continues to bag me whenever I get killed cause, according to the hate mail I got after the match, I'm a "scrub". Amid all this glorious rage messages I get a message from the other teams number one guy saying GG. I messaged him back with the same thing and saying thanks. Please be more like that kind of player people. Being dicks for no reason or just because you got beaten is never cool

                            • If I see an opponent on the battlefield who plays well and makes awesome plays, I will tell them GG afterward, win or lose. They deserve to be recognized for their effort. Doing this has actually led to some cool friendships online. Sometimes people will respond and want to play together. That's awesome. That's how it should be.
