Trading has always been a hot seat issue as many would think this is game breaking. I used to be a proponent of no trading but I have recently changed my mind since TTK was released. I think there are easy rules to make a trading system work.

Legendaries for legendaries, but:
Gun rules:
Light level must be equal or within a range of 5. You cannot trade a 310 for a 250 legendary. If it is a raid legendary or ToO legendary is must be traded for a ToO or raid legendary respectively (305 defiance of Yasmin for a 310 doom of chelchis). All other legendaries must just be at equal light level and fully upgraded. This way people are putting time and energy into each legendary and not simply gaining hard to earn guns for no reason. Adept and Harrowed guns can only be traded for adept and harrowed weapons as well.
Armor rules:
Raid gear: same rules as the weapons, range of light levels by 5, raid gear for raid gear, it can be for cross class (Titan helmet for warlock chest piece).
Trials gear: same rules as raid with light range of 5, ToO for ToO, but no cross class. Armor drops are guaranteed and can be ran on all characters. You can trade armor to get better perks.
Exotic weapons:
Exotic weapons can be traded for light level range of 5, must be 300 or above, must be fully upgraded, and can only be traded for other RNG exotics (hawkmoon, thorn, mida). Quest rewards cannot be traded. Class exclusive weapons cannot be traded. Raid exotics cannot be traded.
Exotic armor:
Same rules as trials gear/exotic weapons, no cross class trading, above 300 light, fully upgraded, and can be traded for other pieces of class exotic armor (chest for helmet).
Materials:
you can trade materials (armor materials, weapon parts, and upgrade materials) for one another in a player based exchange.
Sparrows: players that have engaged in silver purchases and not got the sparrow they desired can trade it to another person for a sparrow from SRL or eververse trading company
Shaders: these can be traded as long as they are RNG based and not quest based (Queens web vs. Artic proxy)
Ghosts: ghosts cannot be traded
Artifacts: artifacts cannot be traded
Cloaks, bonds, and marks cannot be traded
Emotes cannot be traded
I believe this will help create a trading mechanism and a flourishing economy without breaking the game.

Sounds great, although I'm sure someone would find a way to break it.

2 RepliesSo with a bit of luck and some skills in trading I could get to max level without doing anything ? Just trade gear for slightly better gear almost every time. Kind of like the raids ?

1 ReplyNice job man

1 ReplySounds great if you want to ruin the game

1 ReplyEdited by Silly Sod: 1/20/2016 5:34:56 PMTrading would not be used by most people Better to have a reject option on strike screen to give the crap away to others randomly Also would not ruin economy

2 RepliesEdited by puppyk1sses: 1/20/2016 6:37:44 AMThey would never implement trading. Bungie's focus is to treat this game Pokemon-ish. Gotta collect 'em all. Artificially extend the game and make up for lack of content through repetitive grinding. If I have a few select items I am missing, I have to fight against double RNG to get them. This keeps me playing. If I can trade for it easily, I can collect everything in a very short timeframe, and i'm done. This happened to me personally and a lot of people I know. The grind keeps you going. Once there's nothing to grind for, playtime plummets.

5 RepliesBest way trading would work Is at the reward screen only after a strike or raid to trade around stuff that was earned in that session only. Or go full warframe and have an in game silver economy but that would require destiny to have for more weapons and armor which isnt happening anytime soon. Warframe does trading perfectly.

1 ReplyWhat if we could trade engrams instead? Say you got an exotic helmet engram but you want an exotic heavy engram and someone else wants your helmet engram and has a heavy engram.
-
3 RepliesThere is a great video on YouTube that explains why this won't work well. Ultimately, trading creates an economy which makes all weapons virtually common or impossible to get. If weapons have a limit (they do not now), then many people will never have them. If there is no limit, everyone will have them. Basically, it won't work like you think it will... People will just grind to get the top new gun and trade until until it is common... It will make the game boring.

Only if I get to have my character talk to engage trading. Classics like: -swap weapons -give me your stuff -who wants my crap? -sharing is caring -I thought I saw you starring at it -who wants it? -fresh new gun. still warm!

2 RepliesQuestion, whys everything gotta be within light level of 5? My shit drops 70 light below my current stuff
-
2 RepliesNope.

2 RepliesYou can trade any loot you want, but it needs to be within ten light, be the same rarity, and be traded at the end screen of trials, nightfall, or raid. The only loot you can trade is with people in that party and loot that was earned in that instance. You know that the people did roughly the same amount of work to earn the same rarity gear. Only allow three or so trades per week per character. This is the only way I think fair and balanced trading can be implemented. I got a 320 rocket at war priest to upgrade another heavy and you want it I'll take a 315 Scout that you got from Oryx because I need a primary or want it for collection.

1 ReplyThe loot pool still isn't big enough to form a stable, ongoing economy, especially with all your restrictions.
-
2 RepliesI'll trade you a 320 raid hand cannon and a 319 ghost for a stupid -blam!-ing 320 piece of shit ghost

Only trading bungee knows is Eververse

1 ReplyTo many rules it would make trading useless
-
2 RepliesI honestly think trading isn't something we can expect to see in the near future, if ever.

8 RepliesTbh I think the trading system we have now works just fine.
