I see problems with this but I love the fact that guns can grow and evolve into better ones! (All we got was necrochasm and we'll it was a bit of a disappointment) it makes them feel more attatched and our guns (atleast until the next yearly update that makes everything useless) I would like to see this happen or at the very least make guns that start out white but work their way up to legendary or exotic even

  • Well be open about the problems you see, the idea is community driven, this forum is for is to fine tune everything while this idea makes its way to Bungie. And hopefully it's so compelling that even they can't avoid interest in wanting to put it in the game.

  • I would think there are sets of them that can be gained by doing a specific questline that varies depending on what type of weapon you intend it to be, at that point there will be a few perks that could roll on your exotic for it's exotic perk at that you could leave it to rng between 3-4 perks. Or if you do it with choosing your exotic perk but certain perks being only available on certain weapon types. I do know that I would intend the final quest for your exotic perk to be an absurdly difficult fight with a near max light lvl boss that you'd have to run solo. But that's my idea on it what you you think would work for the exotic perk choice?

  • It's all a matter of what you want the weapon to be, if it's just a random weapon then anything is fine but I'd think being able to choose where the weapon goes (in terms of 3 or 4 random perks that generate on the weapon) at each stage of its life making it more of a personal gun Then when it reaches exotic level you can kinda choose the perk (based on your previous choices) to create a unique weapon

  • Well my intentions would be that the weapons you infuse add their perks to an overall table kinda like putting a name in a hat. the more you put the name in the hat the higher chances of getting that roll. The exotic perk would stand separate from that process and be a questline of its own.

  • Huh, that's pretty cool actually in terms of actual effectiveness is whether or not you have good perks on guns... but it's an interesting idea non the less but I wouldn't go that route myself

  • Well just write out everything you'd do with it here, I'll be sure (if Bungie decides to run with the idea or contacts me about it at any point) to direct them to the forum for this post and make sure they see all the great suggestions to improve the idea. We are a community of guardians working for the better of us all so why wouldn't we value making things better together?

  • I'd be happy to help out as I can and it be nice if Bungie saw us. Anyway I'd go with it as how you would start out (Basic gun archetype, color, name, etc) and start it out as a white which will level up depending on something random (kill X amount of enemies, kill certain enemies, equipped item for so long, etc) then once it gets past that point to green or you will be able to pick a perk (from a random selection) and either a scope or barrel modification (depending on archetype), then it levels up again and the same process continues up till it reaches legendary status. Once that happens, based on the previous choices AND your playstyle (and potentially other factors) the questline will proct and your great long adventure begins (I like that idea that you have to work for it though I would suggest keeping the things one has to do at a solo level so it's more of a personal weapon) After the questline, the gun will turn into an exotic and gain a perk of some sort (I'm not sure what to do at this part to keep it balanced)
